The wedding has ruined me....

Original post by Jennifer907

I used to drop money on shoes, bags, makeup, etc with no problem at all. I didn't think twice. When DH and I got engaged I cut back. Now that we're married, I'm such a cheapo; it's ridiculous. I would never even think about shopping in Payless before. But tonight I went and bought a pair of boots for the bad weather we're expecting. They cost $30 and I feel so guilty. It's not like I got the $245 pair of Uggs I want! Dh keeps telling me stop being silly, but I seriously watch every single dollar we spend now and don't shop for extras that we don't need. I haven't bought a Coach bag in so long!

Did the wedding do this to anyone else?

i dont want to say that it was the wedding that ruined me... for me I think it was buying a house. i had no choice but to cut back and now that i know i can pend more again i tend to spend it on things for the house. Im lucky cuz i dont spoil myself but my DH spoils me... so i guess im doing just fine :o)

sort of
i usually didnt shop like that but every now and then i would spulrge - new shoes, a bag, makeup, etc. it would all add up pretty quickly.
now i watch every single dollar i spend, pretty much since we got engaged and we started saving money for a house. i'd rather wear a $10 pair of payless shoes that make my feet stink and have a house than to spend all my money and have nothing - i guess its just all part of maturing

Mmm I have always been thrifty. I mean I do blow too much on casual purchases but DH and I havent really made a strict budget yet. We plan to start after the holidays. We just wanteed to enjoy one last yeear before going into scrimp and pinch mode.

mmmmmhmmm.

TJ Maxx and Filenes Basement are your FRIENDS...

I have always been 'thrifty' (not cheap)BUUUUUUUUUT I am still as much as a spender as I was before the wedding.

So is DH. He just bought himself new 2 thousand dollar speakers.

oy. we're in trouble

OMGT YES!!!!The money that DH and I were able to save blew us away!!! We were like the heck did we spend money on before?!?!?!?!? Now we are saving for a house the same way we saved for the wedding. We relaxedfor 2 weeks after the HM but then it was back on!!!

for me- things have stayed pretty much the same.

DH is wonderful - he's always encouraging me to spend spend spend. I took the year off between graduating medical school and starting residency and DH really wants to make sure that I enjoy this year off.

He's the best!!!!!!
