These boards are starting to upset me!!!

Good Afternoon ladies,

I having been coming on these boards for a couple of months now. I come on here to get advice and look for ideas for my best friend who is getting married next year (actually for several people who have gotten married and are getting married). However, I've noticed that some of the women on here can be very petty and angry when it suits them. Today I received a a very nasty FM from a member on here that I thought I was helping the best way I could. I couldn't believe how much she blasted me when I had good intentions! I've noticed that some of the newlyweds on here can be over emotional and very uptight at times. There are even times when people almost tell YOU how and what they want you to respond to their posts...how crazy is that??? Now I see why some people don't post - you risk the chance of getting your head blown off (figuratively speaking).

If you are feeling over-emotinal like we all go through at times when life gets hard, then wait until your head clears before posting. If you post at that time, you could potentially read what another person says and take it the wrong way and blast - then a big internet fight breaks out (I've seen quite a few on here). This member is obviously going through a hard time right now and she needs someone to take her frustrations out on - let me tell you, i'm NOT THE ONE to be messed with! It's okay to disagree with people, but blasting them is unacceptable in my book!

People need to realize that this is the internet - there is nothing private about LIW. Anyone at anytime can read and respond to your problems, issues etc. As 'Adults' if we are going to put our information out there, then be mature enough to accept everyone's opinons and responses even if you don't think it's nice or accommdating (syrupy, bowl of cherries with cream on top)! Not everyone knows everyone on this board, so some people are going to be a bit less syrupy and more objective!

I recently recommended this site to a friend and she did not like it because of the cattiness on here. LIW is a great community, but some people on here are starting to make it annoying. Reputation is everything for a site such as this. If people keep getting chased away, what will happen to the boards? I think everyone needs to relax and stop taking things to heart so much - that can be unhealthy. I like reading the inspirational stuff that Shamma posts, they are positive and you learn something from it. That's what a community such as this should be about, not negativity and cattiness - life is hard enough as it is!

If anyone is feeling upset, take a nice bubble bath, go for a walk, listen to some music and clear your head! Please, Stop with the OVER EMOTIONS!

I agree to a certain extent BUT.. to be honest, I feel that all our emotions, whether we're overreacting or not, make this board and it's the beauty of this board...

just take it for what it's worth..

I like the people, the drama and no everyone can not get along thats whats great. If we all got along, how boring would it be?

Marcella - I can accept that, kinda like the reality shows!

The more upheavals the better! I have taken if for what it is - but when someone blasts me because I tried to help, that's unacceptable!

That's fine that people like the drama! I have no problem with that, but cursing out new people who are only seeking information is unacceptable.

I put the info out because I've seen this a few times. Yes, I did respond to the person who fm'd me.

I realize that not all the women on here are like that - that's why I said 'some.'

While it would be nice if everyone always got along and we never argued it's not realistic there are too many people here that make up this wonderful community to expect that.

I do think we should always be RESPECTFUL of everyone's feelings and always remember that the tone in which you mean the post often does not translate that way on the screen to someone else.

But I take the good with the bad. There are always trade offs and if a little drama or cattiness occurs I can always ignore the thread and go onto something that won't bother me.

But the good here far far outweighs the bad and that's why I have been here for so long.

ETS: I am sorry you received a flaming FM. That's not right

I just think that when people put up posts like this it just makes it worse When you have a huge group of women like we do here , you are going to have tons of opinions, some not really nice. You just have to ignore the people who rub you the wrong way and move on to the next post

Another thing that annoyed me was the fact that my friend was chased from the boards because of cattiness. This is why I decided to post this long brief!

Like I said, if the drama is there it's okay! A little intensity don't hurt, but if you are picked on unreasonably it's not right. Also, maybe the next time someone might think a little before posting.

Sandy, sorry someone was rude to you, we are all entitled to our opinions, whether it be in the majority or not. I hope you hang around, we all add a little something to this community. I am glad you like my quotes. I know sometimes when I give my 'HONEST' opinions it can come off as harsh, but we do not need to yes people to death just b/c that is what the masses is doing.

The good on here does definitely outweigh the bad. Tell your friend to come back, give us another chance we can be rather addictive.

I agree that this board can be bad at times....but those times are rare. Most days everyone is exteremely supportive and helpful. The newlywed board in particular very rarely has any drama like that.

To be 100% honest, if you friend thought this board was too catty...she probably isnt suited for participating on any internet message board. Not everyone is cut out for this type of interaction.

Every single community that has people interacting like we do has certian inevitable personality clashes just like in real life.
