I just got the call. We signed the contract for the house on December 12th! They finally signed yesterday. With the holidays and all it held it up, but we were starting to get worried there! :) So, now its official we are in closing with a tenative closing date of February 15th! So soon!

the details
nice house big plot of land in plainview
good neighborhood - it was an estate sale so got a better price
house is in move-in condition but we plan to get an equity loan to build a second floor and remodel interior is a bit outdated
the fireplace is is the center of the house and the layout is really exactly what we were looking for formal dining room living room study, 3 bedrooms now one bath (but we'll build more upstairs and finish the basement), eik, family room also i wanted a detatched garage -
what i really wanted tho b/c i'm not from ny was a fireplace can't wait for the romance of sitting in front of it sipping hot chocolate :)

I grew up in North Babylon! I lived off of Phelps Lane...closer to the Southern State Parkway. My parents house was right behind the Junior High (I think they call it Middle School now!! LOL). The school district was good then...I think its pretty good still. Went through Elementary, Jr High and High School in the district...Went to college...got a degree...so i guess it wasnt that bad!! LOL

I think I talked to you when I was looking at another house on Barnfield (off of Phelps Lane). :) I heard the elementry schools are excellent. And in 18 years who knows how the schools will be, so HS, etc. I am not too worried about right now. As long as its a decent school district, in a nice neighborhood and of course, in our budget.
So DH and I are excited! Where do you live now? I was going to say we might be neighbors?
