things you DONT love about your house

so im pretty settled in to the new home and ive come across a few things that are not my favorite which leads me to this post.

what are the things about your house that you dont love?

my house is built into a hill which makes everything unlevel. you cant really tell except for one area but hanging things, installing doors or molding, is a real pain in the arse

you cannot breathe upstairs without hearing it ownstairs. the floors are REAL noisey. im lightly concerned about when dh is better and we are umm bonding in our bedroom what you hear since on the ground level (two floors below) will be my moms house

but the biggest pain.... the neighbors tree!!!!!! it hangs in our backyard which is great for shade and privacy and i dont really despise raking the leaves its the f-ing acorns that kill me. there are literally 1000s of them in my yard and they dont rake up easy. this will definately be the bain of my existance in the fall.

we are on ground level = more bugs. i just hate ALL bugs, so even 1 is too much.

oh, and cant walk around in skimpies unless blinds are totally SHUT!

Ugh, I hear you about the tree! Except the tree is in our yard. We *could* take it down if we wanted, but my great aunt planted that tree with my grandmother so it has sentimental value and no one wants to take it down. It's also good for keeping the house cool in the summer and block it from the wind in the winter, so the tree stays and I just complain about raking.

Our house is a 2-family house. The first floor is almost like a basement- though it does have a small kitchen right off the living room and a bathroom and bedroom, it's not technically a 3rd apartment. We treat it as if it was the basement. We have gym equipment and store stuff down there and use it to access the backyard. The second floor is our apartment which has the traditional dining room/kitchen/living room and then 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The thing I don't like is there is an internal staircase connecting the 'basement' and our apartment. It's right inside the front door and cuts the hallway leading from the living room to the bedrooms in half. I am terrified of falling down those stairs at night when I turn off the lights and I walk from the living room to the bedroom. I also have a fear of my dog, Lucy, falling down the steps. She tends to like to sit at the top of them and she has fallen asleep there and rolled off the top step. She woke up in time but she could've taken a nasty tumble.

The fact that we don't have a house and I don't know if we'll get one in the near future is what I don't like!!! Our apartment is great and the rent is outstanding, I just want a house...

...excuse me while I call the 'whambulance!!!!'

-- our downstairs neighbor is annoying
-- the molding isn't painted (we never got around to it lol)
-- carpets are kinda gross
-- all of the doors look so cheap (including closet doors)
-- we have a ceiling fan that looks like it's 100 years old

i keep wanting to fix things but then i get lazy (or poor)

I hate my kitchen light and my dining room ceiling fan.
The sunlight shines directly through my bedroom window in the morning........right in my eyes.
A long narrow driveway - we're constantly moving cars around
Wish my kitchen were bigger
My bathrooms are hideous.......I can't wait to renovate them.
The steps on my backyard deck are terrifying.
I want a bay window in my living room.

Blah!!! Our condo it crap!!! It was great when we first moved in..and now we have outgrown it. here's my list of complaints!!

1-Ground level
2-Low ceiling
3- only 1 Bathroom
4-No garage no driveway (we're in Chicago in busy area near Lake Michigan, parking is a nightmare!!!)
5-B!tchy upstairs neighbor who HATES dogs (we have 2)
7-having to share the yard with a weirdo who insists on planting tomatoes everywhere!!! ick.

-i hate that we cant find a sectional to fit the space we have.. 2 verryyy odd lengthed walls. so we loook suuuuper pooor with our make shift sectional ( 2 couches , erf)

- i hate that i cant find any ART for the living room. BARE WALLLS

-i hate that we dont have a backyard

- hate that we cant have a dog

I hate the wall that the previous owners put up between the living room and the kitchen and can't wait till we can afford to re-do the kitchen and take it down

I hate the blue 1970's siding

I hate my bedroom closet mirrored 1990's doors.

um, where do I begin?

-our place is a loft, so our kitchen / living room connects to our bedroom upstairs, so it's like living in one big box, so there's no privacy. If one of us wants to watch TV and the other one doesn't, oh well
-it's all windows, so when there are guys coming to do the yard / clean the pool / exterminate, they can see right in no matter where we are in our house
-the kitchen is tile and never looks clean, no matter how much I scrub
-we have bees that get in, no idea how
-our kitchen is minuscule
-upstairs is carpeted - yuck
-bathroom is tiny

there are a LOT more LOL these are all I could think of off the top of my head.

Well my chief complaint is that I don't own a house...

BUT I live in a 2-family house and I've got a looong list of complaints

-Small kitchen
-TINY bathroom (my closet is bigger than the bathroom!)
-open floorplan
-stupid downstairs neighbors (everytime they leave they SLAM the door and it shakes the whole house, PLUS I hear them arguing all the time)
-place is falling apart
-didn't get a dime towards the new fridge we had to buy since the old one broke and spoiled $100 worth of food
-not allowed to have a dog
-basement is down the stairs, out the front door, around the side of the house and down another flight of stairs

I could go on...I can't WAIT until we buy a house!

i don't have very many complaints, because i love my house, but here are a few...
-the walls might as well not be there, because you can hear EVERYTHING that happens from everywhere in the house
-i have to drive to get anywhere
-my bathrooms are ugly

A lot of the things I REALLY hated we re-did right after we moved in (the pinkish siding outside, the giant bushes in the front of the house, the hideous wallpaper in every room.)

Now the two things that bother me are that we don't have moldings in the LR/DR (took it down when we pulled up the carpet and re-did the floors) and the floor in our hallway... it's stick on tiles made to look like wood that they put down over the actual wood floor. That's next on the list.

I wish I had a house to complain about. I have a condo and the upstairs neighbor is too close for comfort,,,,, the floors/walls are so thin, I actually hear her every morning at 4am tinkling in the bathroom! TMI lol

I have a 'brick' house but its really not brick, its called durastone so all of the 'outside' walls are made of concrete. Try screwing something in the wall!

The last owners did half *** jobs on spackling so the walls are uneven. Who knows when we'll get to fix that.

The kitchen is small and we only have one wall with counter and cabinet space.

BUT, its a really cute Cape/Cottagey type house with lots of potential and plenty off yard space so I can't really complain.... too much.

My driveway is in the backyard. you walk out my kitchen door and your on my driveway, not my yard. It makes it feel like we don't have a backyard and I can't fence it in without having a gate for cars. DH by the way LOVES this set up.

THere is a 'beautiful' Oak tree in my backyard that I HATE!! In the early fall it drops acorns all over our driveway, deck and my cars. In the late fall its leaves filling my gutters and covering my driveway. In the winter storms cause dead branches to fall and land on my driveway (so far missing our cars), and then in spring it drops those little saplings. The only time I like it is for about 6 weeks in summer. Not worth it.

My house is way too small and we can't put anything of Value in the basment b/c of water and the walls are so old that when I called to have cable installed they couldn't find the house in the system as if it didn't exist...umm excuse me I'm standing in it right now....how many feet are you from the nearest telephone pole....umm isn't that your job?!?!? & when cable did come they blasted holes in the wall the size of basballs just to run a wire throught hte wall!

I actually LOVE my apartment!!!

Well.. just thought of one thing I'm not a fan of... HATE the bathroom... LOVE the rest of the place!!
