Thinking ahead - where should DH and I go for our next vacation?!

I know, I am nuts!

We can't actually go anywhere til after July 30, 2009 since thats when I will have vacation days again.

I would LOVE to do one of the Sandals resorts, so any feedback would be great! I'm a bit leery of St. Lucia since every bride who's been there said the roads are SO twisty and curvy and even people who aren't prone to carsickness, got sick! I am MEGA prone to it, so I am afraid to go there LOL!

We want to go to a place that has more to do that just lying on a beach. We love the 'touristy' types of things, like the tours, or ATVing, or hiking, etc. And an added bonus for DH would be if they have a casino!

Any feedback would be great!

Oh boy, another addiction??? That could be trouble for me!

DH and I just returned from a Cruise Sat night, Loved it, although next time would like to do another line other then Carnival since it was my 4th Carnival cruise.
We are also planning a Trip in 09' (so your not nuts at all0 10/09 for our 2nd year anniversary we are thinking of going to an all inclusive to DR. The rates are very resonable.

St. Thomas!
there's TONS to do but you can totally lie around and do nothing if you want and The Marriott Frenchman's Reef resort has all-inclusive packages.
No passport needed... 3-4 hour flight (if it's direct).

I was also going to suggest aruba but you've been there already.

How about Bermuda, its gorgeous and lots to do.

Bahamas is ok, if you go to paradise island its nice. Dh really wants to go but i've been to bahamas and kinda don't have a desire to go back lol. The sandals in the bahamas is right between paradise island and nassau, its isolated but when i went jet skiing i went by there and wasn't crazy about the beach they had.

Its not an island but maybe to do something different, how about Vegas.

We went to Sandals Halcyon (the smallest of the 3) located on St.Lucia. We LOVED everything about it !! We are planning to return next year. We flew into the airport near the resort, but flew home out of the other airport which is about a one hour drive. Yes, the roads are narrow when compared to our infrastructure. There are curves and hills too but at no time was I scared or worried. Reading posts from other girls is what made me fearful but no need to worry !! St. Lucia was amazing !!!

Well, I can get carsick on a perfectly straight and even road, so I am petrified that everytime we took a ride somewhere, if we went to St. Lucia, that I'd be sick! Same reason I am scared to go on a cruise. Everyone says 'Oh you don't even feel the boat moving,' but if you aren't someone who gets motion sickness, of course you'd say that! I really don't want to drug myself up just to go on a vacation

i get motion sickness on boats too and very badly, thats why i was VERY afraid of going on a cruise. I just imagined i'd be sick the entire time plus i just have this weird fear of being on boats, ships. But i didnt take any pills at all, what i did was i got the wrist bands and those worked AMAZING!!!!! you just wear those while you're on the cruise and it controls your motion sickness. Dh after the 2 days said 'oh i feel great i am taking these wrist bands off' yeah the moment he took them off he didn't feel well lol.

You know, I have the wristbands and I wear them in cars, on planes, everything!!! I did wear them when we were in Aruba on a boat and I got sick anyway I don't know, I guess nothing works 100% of the time. Everyone tells me to look into those behind-the-ear patches but I haven't done that yet.

We went to montego bay, jamaica (SANDALS) on our honeymoon and its really really nice.

1. Its a 5 minute car ride from the airport do you dont have to worry about long car rides. Any other driving you may have to do is ok because almost all the roads we went on were paved.

2. Its that kind of resort you were talking about where if you really wanted to you can do NOTHING and lay on the beach/go to the pool all day OR you can book trips to go horseback riding (on land and water!!) Climb a waterfall, ATVing, etc.

3. The water is amazing and they have all watersports included... wakeboarding, glass bottom boat, snorkeling, etc.

I went to St. Lucia and loved it. But if you are prone to sickness you can either fly into the closer airport or go to the other airport and do helicopter ($$$). Anyway I took dramamine and was ok the way there but the way back was very nauseated...and it takes more than hour. ALso the ziplining in the rainforest is an hour away so you may not due that due to naseousness.

OK we had a great time though! We are going to Antigua next year for our 1 year anniversary. Check them out!
