Those looking @ houses....

Original post by skinny237

I have to say that it's pretty freaking depressing looking at houses. With our budget, I expected that we would have to updating. No big deal. We were expecting to see blue or pink bathrooms, green or orange kitchens, etc. We're not even seeing that. In the houses we've seen, the kitchens and baths are original (as in, from the 40's----before pink or blue bathrooms were even 'invented').

With the housing market as it is, we're suprised what people are charging for POS houses with no yard. It's ridiculous.

big time! I called the place we are trying to get pre-approved for a mortgage and she said please do not do a short sale unless you LOVE - can't live with out the house. She said it causes more headaches then anything go for a foreclosure instead.

At this point I have no clue what we are going to do. We are till going to look at short sales and if this bank won't approve us then I will just have to find on that will if we do love the house. That is why I am going to find out what is really owed on the house since then i kno wif the bank will accept our offer on a particular house.

we looked at about 60-75 houses, and the ones in our price range all needed work. a couple that we saw that were move in ready were missing things like a garage, or were on a major street. technically, the house we bought was 'move in condition' but only if you like UGLY. the wall that runs from our living room/dining room is all rocks - rocks that the old homeowner spent 2 years hand picking. it also has 4 huge ceiling to floor mirrors w/ gold lines in it. very classy. thing is, everything works fine, it's just the cosmetic changes that need to be done. we knew we'd have to put work into any house we bought, and we ended up w/ a house that needs no work on the outside, just cosmetic stuff on the inside. but it's major cosmetic stuff. if we had a ton of money for a house, it would have been great, but on a budget we took what was best for our needs.
