those who wear glasses

how often do you get new lenses? i only just started wearing glasses at the beginning of this year. i need two pair - one for all day use, and one for the computer/reading. my all day glasses are fine, but my computer glasses are not nearly as crisp as they used to be. is it possible i already new lenses for them? i thought it was normal to get new lenses every 2-3 years.

i would love to go every year, but our insurance only covers new glasses every two years, and only for one pair. ever since i turned 30, everything just seems to fall apart so quickly

I have glasses but mostly wear them just at night after I take out my contacts. My lenses are like 3 years old though- I need new ones!

it's worrying me too! at work we now use two monitors, and it's taking its toll on my eyes for sure.

Mine was too. But this last visit last month my eye dr said I started plateauing and the change wasn't as much as the past. he said after you turn 25 it will get less and less.

I hear you on the turning 30 and falling apart -- only I started at 28. I got glasses at two years ago for the first time and I desperately need a new pair -- just waiting til the new year when I go onto DH insurance since it is better ..... stay off the roads if you see me coming at night!)

I get an exam every year. I wear contacts and glasses. I notice that since I'm on the computer a lot I need to get my prescription for my glasses changed more often than my contacts. I usually get an exam once a year. I would go to the doc especially if you think you need a different prescription.

ETA: If money is an issue, you can keep the frames that you have now and just get the lenses replaced. That's what I've been doing since I got my Coach frames- I will keep using them until they fall apart.

I go every year, for the past two years my vision has only changed slightly so for the first time ever I bought two pairs of glasses! Expensive but well worth it because I really don't wear my contacts anymore. If my vision does change I plan to just update the lenses because I have kept them in great condition. I think this year though I do want to get a pair of prescription sunglasses!

Same here. I only wear my glasses at night or if I'm sick, so I haven't replaced them about 5 years, probably. M y prescription hasn't changed much since then, anyhow. I just get new contacts ever year (once a year I get about 8 boxes of them).

My insurance covers glasses OR contacts once a year. If it covered both, I would get glasses every year. I would like new frames and lenses though - I've been searching for a pair of glasses I like on me enough to wear to work if I don't feel like wearing contacts - but I haven't found that pair yet, and since I've been needing corrective lenses since I was 8, I don't think I ever will find them.

Have you asked your doctor if vision therapy might be good for you?? I used to do HTML code alllll day for Barnes & Noble.com - I was the one who created the emails with the pictures for them - and after a year or two of STARING at a computer screen so intently, I got headaches, eye-aches, etc. One of my eyes was working harder than the other, and although it didn't really look like it, I essentially had a lazy eye. I went to vision therapy for 6 weeks or something and got tinted reading glasses to wear (with my contacts) when I looked at the computer, and it pretty much cleared up. You do exercises with your eyes, basically, that make them both work at the same pace.

Also, MAKE SURE you look away from the computer every 15-20 minutes and focus on something far away, like an exit sign, clock, etc. The change in your depth of field helps your eyes to refocus and gives them a break.

I will have to ask about that - I never heard of it! Thank you. . .

Re: those who wear glasses

take them back and explain to them. Maybe it just needs a bit adjusting. different angles give different sharp and crisp vision.
