Re: Times are tough

Not that my DH is in the same situation (I mean it is a little different he just got out of the military) but I hear ya on it effecting our relationship.

I go to work and school and come home and sometimes we get into fights about things he did during the day ro things he didnt do etc.

It is stupid and silly but I can't seem to help it. I hate it and we had a talk last night about working on it.

But all the advice I can give you is to discuss what's occuring in your relationship and make some compromises and/or just listen to what each other is feeling. Good Luck and keep your head up it might be hard but you will get through it.

hmmm see i wonder if his construction background would help but i know at dh's company they have a few openings. There is one opening actually in their LI office too, its either service manager or more like project management but doing it all from the office. Basically doing the stuff for project managers and project engineers that are out in the field. Not 100% sure but i know he was telling his friend about this but his friend had no experience with this. Not sure if youre interested. If you want more info, FM me. I know the salary for the position too

Doing what in construction? I work for a distributor so I can check if any of our customers are looking.

the stress of fighting certainly doesn't help....keep the faith, he'll find something you just have to stick together!

Yea exactly we fight over stuff because I feel like if he is home all day certain things should be done which aren't and I get annoyed. I know he is so frustrated right now and depressed and I should try not to be so hard on him.

It is really rough out there, try to stay positive and hopefully change is right around the corner. I understand your frustrations...

Re: Times are tough

awww stay positive. I've been out of work since August 1st. At first Dh expected me to sit home and just clean and cook and all that...but I can't. I look for a job for about 1/2 the day. I'm in the real estate/mortgage legal field..so it's VERY hard for me.

Try to understand that he is probably very depressed and upset, expecially that he can't provide for you like he thinks a husband should. Dh tries to be understanding as well, but sometimes I get soo down because it's been so long and now it's putting our life plans on hold..looking for a house, TTC and such.

I don't know of any jobs for him, but just wanted to share my perspective too. I know it's hard, but we have to keep remembering that there are so many worse off than us.

Good Luck to you and your DH!

don't fight because he must feel like crap too.. DH had a month before he started work and i was working like crazy and he would feel so guilty being home.. and i kept saying its ok.. but it will pass.. don't let this get into your relationship..

I know it is hard. I literally had a yelling contest with him a couple days ago. It was my fault and PMS lolol but he didnt deserve it and I feel bad. I mean I know he is frustrated as well trying to figuer out what he wants to do now. But it will be okay...I hope he is able to find something soon!!!

Re: Times are tough

i kinda know how your DH feels Even though in my case we're okay with me not working right now, I do sometimes get feeling REALLY guilty about being home while he's at work. I fill my time though and I'm barely ever just sitting around (except for the moments I'm on HERE. lol). But still. I get sensitive about it. Like the other night i was on the phone with my dad telling him how freezing it is here and how I didn't go outside at all that day because of it - DH overheard and made a little comment like 'Must be nice'. TOTALLY joking, because he's ok with me being outta work (financially we're fine right now). But still. It made me feel like such a piece of crap. It's the worst to feel 'useless', ya know? So try to be sensitive to your DH during this time. Plus it sounds like he's actively seeking work too, so you know that he's TRYING. Give him credit for that and don't be so hard on him about things that are or aren't getting done. It's so not worth it. If he's at all like me (sensitive on the matter, which I'm sure he kind of is) then you bringing stuff up is bound to start some unnecessary arguments.

Thanks for the advice. It is definitely helpful to hear the other side. I am definitely going to try to be nicer to him and more understanding
