tipping... did you or didn't you???
TIP RANT THREADi vented about tipping in the thread above.
LBride mentioned that she was asked by the rh to tip BEFORE the wedding. this, plus the fact that not every vendor lived up to their promise, got me to thinking.
how many of us are happy with the way we tipped??
i'll start. some/many of you may call me CHEAP, but keep in mind all the 'poop' my vendors put me through when you read who/how much i tipped.
i tipped the dj $100. he came through AT THE LAST MINUTE when the band bailed on me 6 days before the wedding
i tipped the photog $100. i was very happy with the work.
i tipped the cigar rollers $50. they were fun!
nobody else got a tip from me. they were either the sole proprietor (who doesn't get a tip) or their service/work $UCKED THE BIG ONE!!!!
AND YES I'M STILL VERY BITTER
ETA: i feel better now

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
We had our envelopes all set, but as soon as a vendor did not come through, tips got shifted around. Do I feel bad? He!!S no, I was shafted in more ways then one by a few vendors, they deserved less while others went above and beyond and got more! Unfortunately, in some cases, tips were given prior to services rendered...YES I AM BITTER AS WELL>

I am going to go with you Tina120206. I had everything all set and we had some vendors that evening that just didn't deserve the amount we put in there, so we shifted or took money out of the evenlopes. I don't feel bad becuase we definitly didn't get quality service. And for the vendors that went way beyond the call of duty we increased it. Do good work get better tip. That is what I think though.

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
We had our tip envelopes all done the week of the wedding. We really had high expectations of our vendors and they all came through and deserved to be tipped well. I did not tip the RH before the reception began. Too much going on, it was done at the end of the night.

I tipped based on how good of a job they did.

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
I had tip envelopes made out in advance, but left them all open to take out or add as I saw fit. For the owner/operator of businesses I gave a token tip. One vendor went so above and beyond the call of duty that not only did I add to the envelope, but DH pulled $$$ out of his pocket and gave it to her.

I should have done that - but at the time I didn't realize many things that had occurred until he had the envelope. A lesson learned

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
The only people I tipped was the martied and the bridal att.I should have tipped the video guy but I had no money but the photog did not deserve a dime!
The DJ was ok, didn't do what I paid him for though so no tip for them!
Sorry if you think I am cheap but I feel if I am paying you for your services already why should I tip you if you don't do your job the way I payed for....

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
We had pre-stuffed our envelopes for all our vendors, except the photog and video. (we explained to them that we enjoyed them immensely, but were going to tip after we saw their products. ie: I'm not tipping the photog, then he gives me dark and crappy proofs. We waited to get the proofs, then tipped him generously.)We actually added more money to our bridal attendant's tip because she was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know how you feel. I had a lot of problems with my vendors. The only people I tipped cause they did a good job was. I put the money in envelopes in advance and with the people that sucked they just didn't get an envelope.:
Limo driver - $100 (red carpet limo - they were great)
photographer - $100 ( I though they did a good job the day of until I saw the pics :( )
Bridal attendant - $75 she was great!!
DJ - $100
Hair - $25 (all the money went in her pocket anyway)
Makeup -$25

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
Even though we KNEW we could change tips at the last minute, we went with what we set out the night before. I kind of wish we hadn't given our DJ a tip. He wasn't very good at all (see my review).

Re: tipping... did you or didn't you???
We pretty much kept to the tips we had set aside beforehand. The only change we made was adding to the tips of my bridal attendants, because I had no idea we would have 2 of them and they both busted their azzesWelcome New Vendors
