So I have a wedding next Friday at the Castle on the Hudson. I think its going to be a pretty glammed out event. It is my mom's best friends daughter (who I am also close with and have known since I was born) and they always throw really fancy parties.
Anyway I really feel I should wear a long dress or at least calf length...what do you think? I really dont feel like spending the $$$ for a new dress though and there is nothing for under $100 anywhere I have looked so far. The only other dresses I have are very nice, but cocktail length, like knee length. What should I do, hunker down and get a new dress or just deal with what I have?
Also DH hates when I go shopping and complains about it for days, it is really frusturating to deal with him and he has been saying for weeks to wear a dress I have.
PS - My mom is wearing a formal long gown and my younger sister has a calf length dress from white/black market

I would get a new one. I have this battle with DH once in a while , especially for weddings. Sometimes i give in and where what i have, but if i knew if was going to be super glam like this one, i would definitely buy a new one! P.S. Cache has some amazing dresses right now!
ETA The problem is going to be the price. Ive been looking for dresses for a wedding at the end of the month and everything i like is over $200

New one and Jennifer is right, L&T has great deals!
I would get a new one. This is something you can wear in the future. Check the sales at Macy's you can luck out at times.

i had a few events this year..some engagement parties, weddings, etc.. i try to recycle but u know how it is..sometimes the same people are at the same events, etc..& lets be honest..we like something new to look pretty in But honestly now, we had so much stuff this year that i went for cheap finds. just because u get a new dress, doesnt mean u have to spend a fortune..(and of course, if dh realizes it doesnt have to cost a ton, he'll be more apt to let u buy )
i found this dress at a dress store in my mall (LVLX) ...would u believe it was $39.99?? and i've worn it to three events this year.. u just have to keep ur eyes open..this was a maxi style dress, but because of the material & the neckline - it was much more on the dressier side...so i say yes, but be reasonable & respect the dh

Thanks girls. I knew I was right ans that I should get a dress!!!!! Hahhahha! Actually am cancelling a facial I had planned this weekend with mom so I feel a bit better about getting a dress. Also I we r not eating out the next few nights - am I rationalizing? Dh loves eating out and said let's eat out Sat and I was like noooo I need a dress! Lol!
Anyway I am going to try L&T - they do have great dresses! Jenn thx for the ideas! Oh and thx Cindy too! I went to Macys in the city and struck out but really I just lose patience in there - its too big and too busy! I am going to LI Sunday and to the mall with my mom so maybe I will have better luck! Yay!

I rarely have luck with department stores, i dont know if its bc i go when everything just happens to be gone or what the deal is lol. One time i was shocked, last year i went to bloomies in the city and for once not only did i find 1 dress i love but found 2 and since i had a few events coming up i bought both, that is a rare occurrence.

Jenna, try lohnmann's in the city. there's one in new hyde park too, but the one in the city is huge. I looooooved their dresses. There used to be one right near me in huntington - i was so sad when it closed (their rent doubled, the cashiers told me one time I was there) - I used to go there all the time. they have awesome designer stuff for a fraction of the cost.

I have never been there but have seen pics or know people who have been there. It is very fancy so I would say a longer one.
