To those that froze their cake....

....its not even my one year anniversary yet (only married 4 months) and I cant wait to eat my cake. I have been thinking about my wedding cake for a whole week. It was the best wedding cake i have ever ever had. And im not just saying that b/c it was my wedding.

I totally feel the same way! In fact, about two weeks after the wedding, DH and I decided there was no reason to save the entire, giant top tier of our cake, because there's no way we'd eat that much on our anniversary, so we defrosted it, cut it in half, put one half back and at the other! It was so good and so worth it!

Back in July I took it out of the freezer to re-wrap it in some freezer bags and it looked SOOOO good! I don't know about next year but I can't wait to find out!

Do you know the bakery? Can you have them make you another cake top? That is what I have been thinking of doing

Both sets of our parents have part of our cake frozen (no room in our freezer). Because we both are on a gluten free and dairy free diet for various reasons, we won't be able to eat it. I'm going to Baby Cakes to have them do a small replica (that's allergen free).

I hope that all of you enjoy yours

Re: To those that froze their cake....

On our wedding day, our cake was wonderful. I wanted to follow tradition so on Monday we defrosted the cake and took tiny bites. It was absolutely disgusting. My stomach felt kind of queasy for a little while afterwards. DH wasn't happy that I made him try it. If I had to do it over again, I would've just bought a small replica of our cake.

I am looking forward to having it as I didn't really taste it on the wedding. I am thinking of taking some bites of it & maybe also getting a replica

I was thinking about unwrapping it and having some. I'm afraid to eat it a year later. Maybe I'll just save two pieces for our year anniversary.

Mmmmmmmm, I can't wait to eat mine either!!!!!!!!!! Every time I open my freezer I have the urge to just dive in!!!!

But I figure all good things come to those who wait!! And patience is a virtue!!

I can't wait and yes we are following the traditions. Even if it is gross, its something special to do on our 1st anniversary:
champagne in our flutes
light our unity candle
and eat our cake!!

I don't even remember what it tasted like. I only had a forkfull during the cake cutting

we cut ours into 12 pieces and froze them individually, so we are eating one every month on our anniversary. It gets yummier each month!!!

I cut ours into four big pieces so we could have some for our 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 1 year anniversaries. Only a few days until our next piece!
