Prep Time: approx. 25 Minutes.
Cook Time: approx. 20 Minutes.
Ready in: approx. 45 Minutes.
Makes 4 servings.

1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
5 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1 (12 ounce) package firm tofu
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 clove garlic, minced
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions
1 In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons
Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon oregano, salt, and black pepper.

bowl of cold water. One at a time, press tofu slices into
crumb mixture, turning to coat all sides.
3 Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook
tofu slices until crisp on one side. Drizzle with a bit
more olive oil, turn, and brown on the other side.
4 Combine tomato sauce, basil, garlic, and remaining

Lisa Rose -Do Tofu and Parmagiana really go together!

Please tell us how it comes out. We are making healthier eating a priority at our house. We have to expand beyond grilled and brioled

Re: Tofu Parmigiana

I HAD to reply to this thread. I am not a tofu person at all, and my one other attempt to make a tofu stir-fry was gross. BUT I tried this recipe tonight exactly as written and it was SOOOOO good. I am not kidding it was delicious! It sort of tasted like eggplant or mozzerala parmagian but better and lighter. I WILL definitley make this again. My DH absolutley loved it too! So for anyone who was considering this recipe, it is definitley worth it!

Re: Tofu Parmigiana

Hey, I made it tonite too! It was really good, we both liked it. We are used to eating tofu, so I'd say you have to like the taste and texture of tofu to really like the dish. It was delish!
