Too many glasses!
I spent the last couple of hours unpacking shower and wedding gifts. We have so many glasses that I don't know where I going to put them! DH and I hardly drink beer yet we got 12 beer mugs (only asked for 8) and 6 pint glasses, in addition to the mugs, pint, and pilsner glasses we alreadly own. Hopefully I can convince DH to return maybe 8 of the beer mugs. 4 should be enough, I hope.Did you have so many glasses? We also have 8 large martini glasses and 8 rocks glasses. Can we get away with 4 each? DH and I drink a lot of wine but not a lot of liquor and beer. We have people over, but usually 1 or 2. And we've only had 1 party since we moved into our apartment 2 years ago. How did you solve your problems of too many glasses (or plates or silverware or fill-in-the-blank)?

Re: Too many glasses!
I got WAY too many glasses (around 30+ wine glasses, martini glasses, two different types of pilsner glasses - 10 of each, etc.) but I ended up keeping them all. They might come in handy one day. If you have the cabinet space for them, I'd consider keeping them but, if not, or if you definitely aren't going to use them, I'd return them.

Re: Too many glasses!
We only registered for 4 beer mugs and got 8 as well. We got alot of wine, and regular drinking glasses too. I would return some of them if I were you. You will never use them (the too many beer glasses and regular), and being in an apartment, I am sure you need to conserve space. It's good to have alot of wine glasses since they tend to break and if youre wine drinkers - I'd keep those. Other than that, at my shower we got too many towels, but those are always handy.

Re: Too many glasses!
coming into our dining room you'd think DH and I both have drinking problems - seriously. We have red & white wine glasses, champagne, martini, AND margarita glasses! (we did return some champagne glasses from our registry though - we kept 6 and returned the other 6)Plus a whole bar set, with shaker, ice bucket, etc. It's hysterical in our little apt!

Re: Too many glasses!
I'd say we have a lot of glasses, but I love glassware (glasses, bowls & dishes)!
I make sure I buy a set of 12 or more when I purchase any kind of tabletop items. We have some sets of 24.

As for solving the storage problem, we just keep most of it in cabinets or on shelves in the basement.

Re: Too many glasses!
Wow - we hardly got any. I think a set of 4 colored wine glasses and a set of martini glasses. We registered for some wine glasses that we didn't get but couldn't find any regular glasses we liked. I'm actually surprised now that I think of it, that we didn't get any beer glasses.

Re: Too many glasses!
We live in an apartment with not a lot of storage space. I would like to keep the crystal glasses but I figured when we move to a bigger place, we can always buy more beer mugs, etc. Glasses at Crate and Barrel are relatively cheap. Otherwise, DH and I will have a keg party and everyone can drink their beer out of real glasses!

Re: Too many glasses!
We have a very big family, so the more glasses the better. I think 12 wine and six of everything else would be fine.

Re: Too many glasses!
Our guests loved to buy glasses. We registered for formal crystal white wine, champagne, water and red wine glasses (12 each) and all were bought out. In addition, since we are quite the wine enthusiast we also registered for special glass for drinking particular wines (ex. burgundy, bordeaux, montrachet) and these were practically all bought out too. What we decided to do was to keep our formal crystal and exchanged all the specialy wine glasses and applied the credit to our china which not too many people bought. We are pressed for space but we are looking long term so we're keeping our sets of 12 glasses each.Welcome New Vendors
