Ugh - post wedding headache - unbelievable!!! LONG vent

Original post by MrsQ-in2007

ETA: LOL, this took me FOREVER to type out with one hand, so someone please read it

So one of our GM returned his tux late to the tux rental place .... I'm talking THREE WEEKS late! While we were on our honeymoon, the tux place charged my DH $125 and we were like So we called and they told us that it was for the late fees for the GM's late tux and that the GM's CC had been declined, so they were charging DH's card per the contract.

Fine. I was not happy about that (that we were getting charged and had to have our GM pay us back) but he ended up giving DH the money so all cool, right?

Yeah up until a few days ago when DH sees a $175 charge on his credit card from the tux place. UMMMMM more than 6 months after the wedding. So he calls and yep, its for late charges on the same tux. Turns out, the total late charges were $500!!!!!!!! I believe they charge $25 per day. Since they couldn't get the $500 approved on his card ,they initially split it up into smaller increments and they haven't been able to charge his card since then, so they put it on DH's card.

So, first off I'm kinda annoyed that they didn't call us first to let us know what's going on before they charged DH's card. Seems like common courtesy. And there's still a $200 balance - so what, were they just going to charge that to us too without saying anything? Also, almost ALL of the guys' tuxes lost their jacket button on the day of the wedding!!!! And these were not cheap rentals. When we complained about it after the wedding, we got the major run around and with everything going on I just left it as is. Now they're charging us without even letting us know.

Secondly, DH calls his friend and tells him about the charge, asks him to give the tux place a call and get this resolved asap. His friend was upset about the whole thing and starts to insist that the tux place send over the contract where it shows that they can charge DH for any of the GM's lateness or whatever. I'm like, W T F does that have to do with anything???? YOU RETURNED IT LATE and you KNEW there was a $25 fee per day!!! You know you owe this money, just call them up, get it resolved and that's that. Ugh!!!

This is just so freaking stupid to me. Why should DH and I still have to deal with this - I feel like, as a good friend, he should just get it resolved with them or make an arrangement with them so we can be out of it.

Dope could have bout himself a really nice suit for $500 instead of racking up late charges.

ummmmm or the dope could have given us a wedding present or at least a carddddd instead.

sorry is that mean?

Oh snap!!!!! I'm sure he figured he wouls handle it at his own pace, but now feels guilty because you guys are being charged.

Hopefully he will do the right thing and pay it!

omg sweetie this is un real! six months after your wedding, without even giving you the COURTESY of a phone call to say hey - we've been trying to charge him for his late tuxedo return, they're pulling this crap on you!?

500 bucks is NOT pocket change and for YOU AND YOUR DH to have to pay for HIS tardiness is absolutely unfathomable. sorry sweets but i'd be livid to put it nicely.

i would do two things. either take it up with TP themselves and demand answers OR pay them their stupid fees once and for all and settle this with the GM directly.

ugh major for you dear!!

if nothing else I think I would tell them that you are letting the entire liweddings web site know how badly they handled this and urge future brides NOT TO USE THEM!!

there are so many other good tux places that are also far less expensive and accomodating - - Esquire tuxedo in Merrick, for example - - that a company that does that should be boycotted.

I hope you let others know in BHB to stay away.

and good luck in getting it all resolved and behind you.

Your friend should call the tux place have them remove the charge from your card and pay it off himself. I would be so mad if one of our gm did that!! Who cares what was signed he knew that he would have late charge and it is his problem not yours.

As for the company they should have mentioned the $500 charge the first time they spoke to you. It could have been taken care of then. It was a bit sneaky of them to stick it on your credit card what is it 7 months later??

Nice one handed typing job. You are very dedicated. How long will it be until you can use your arm?

THANKS!!!! That took forever to type, lol. Dr. said 1 more week with the sling and then it comes off! It's sooooooo annoying at this point, but it does still hurt when I take it off so its a catch 22. Hopefully it won't hurt so much as of next week!

First of all, the GM should offer to pay for this immediately. What does seeing the contract have to do with anything?? It sounds like he tried to run a scheme on them by knowing his card would be declined without realizing you guys would be charged for it and now hes pissed. I hope this doesnt strain your DH's relationship with him but what he did was wrong and yeah the place should have called to let you know the tux had not been returned yet. then again why would they? Theyre making money off of it being late. This whole situation is so wrong and I really hope the GM coughs up the money ASAP.

Thank you - the funny thing is, DH is so nice that i don't think it bothers him so much!! He just wants his friend to pay us back and pay the balance to the store. Meanwhile, I'm livid when I think about it!
