Uh-oh bounced check

Uh-oh bounced check

So we had one gift that came back as a bounced check. It was from DH cousin and her family (very generous gift).

Anyway...the bank is sending us the check back and now what are we supposed to do?

Is she alerted that she bounced something? We have never bounced anything so I am confused as to what to do...do we have to tell her? That would be so embarrasing!

ALSO - I work for a bank and you'd think I know these things...not so much! I am holed up in an office!

We had this happen too. Yes they are told that there check bounced so i am sure they will come to you and say something. You can redeposit the check if they are ok with that.

her bank will definitely notify them of the bounced check. i would wait and see if they contact you to apologize

if not--then i would have DH let her know that the check bounced. try and have him play it off like 'hey i'm sure it was just an oversight--happens to everyone but i wanted to let you know this check came back and we got charged for it'

either they will be embarassed and send another check---or they won't. either way i wouldn't stress too much about it--just bring it to their attention that you know it bounced take it from there

oh gosh- we had 3 bounced checks we left it alone even though we prob should have said something. I didn't know the people well enough to say anything and DH was uncomfortable- so whatever...

It simply sux!

On my rampant cleaning this wknd, I found 4 un cashed checks from the wedding that never got deposited- from people that did not attend and sent us gifts. Hello this is 2 years later it totally ***** big time $700 worth of checks Um we could have really used that money

Re: Uh-oh bounced check

ugh - we had 2bounced checks.... one couple gave us a phonecall & sent another...the other (whom we didn't have a super close relationship with) never said anything about it or sent anything. We should've said something i guess but we didn't ...

it's so tough 'cause it's so uncomfortable! if ur hubby has a decent relationship with them he can say something very non-chelant like stated above... i hope it works out! i'm sure if they meant for you to have a very generous gift, they'll want you to have it and will hopefully send along another!

Jenn the bank should let them know of it .. or they are probably already aware. I say sit on it for a bit.

See what they say or do. You can redeposit the check in some time if you like just call the bank and ask will this cash today is there enough funds - I know the banks used to , not sure anymore though

They will be told the check bounced... Hopefully they will do the right thing and pay you back the fee you're charged.

We had one of those, we tried to cash it a 2nd time a few weeks later and it bounced again.....then the person called, apologized, told me they were sending a new one.....it's been over a year and we got nothin!

my mom was pisssed b/c it was one of her cousins, whose weddings, showers she has always been generous for....
