It was basically an email that was sent to people who were going to be attending a destination wedding, letting them know how much money to bring to cover their dinner!

Paying for dinner is actually a somewhat common practice in certain areas of the country. A lot of places don't make big deals out of weddings. They have a ceremony with their friends and then go out to dinner with everyone to celebrate.

My friend Christy encounters that all the time with her friends from York. One time dinner was Chinese.

I think that is horrible. So rude! If you can't afford to have the wedding then don't have one.

not for this particular wedding apparently.

this was a destination wedding in florida... and it was an email from the MOG to the guests. It wasn't the best written email either.

it said to bring cash or check for $30 to the restaurant. you can't use your card because they will only let them pay the bill with one payment. so the groom will be paying with his cc. then it went on to say, make sure you hand the money in before the dinner and if not someone will come to collect it... something like that. im paraphrasing because it's gone.

OK yeah thats weird. The post was gone so I didn't know the particulars, but that doesn't sound right at all. I can't believe that. You have to wonder how the bride and groom felt about that.
