Updates...(long)
HI girls! I haven't been around much, been really busy settling in AND we didn't have DSL hooked up for awhile.
We're now in the apartment - been here a little over 2 weeks. The changes to the place since we first saw it have made a HUGE difference. The improvements were much needed. Its quite comfortable and spacious here now (and cheap - thanks Dad) so we'll probably stay until we're in a house (which we won't begin looking for for a few months, and we may build new - TBD).
I've been learning the real estate appraisal business and working on getting the office up and running. Haven't taken the courses yet, but I'm already doing appraisals. Al actually came with me today on a job in Sound Beach and we visited friends there when I was done. Can't beat that schedule!
Al got a job! well, not officially yet. But he got the job offer and will finish up negotiations next week when the boss is back in the office. Its a lead design engineer position in Westbury. It all happened very quickly and we're still a bit in shock. They just need to give him more vacation time and he'll be all set.
I feel like I still have no time to socialize, and my NY friends are complaining that they see me as often as they did when I was in CA, but I think we'll settle into more of a routine soon.
Valentine's Day was fun. I was buried in tulips in the morning and Al suprised me with another diamond pendant (apprarently he bought 2 at Christmas time and couldn't decide between them - the one I got at christmas is very modern and this one antiquey, so he kept both - lucky me!). We spent most of the day at Lowes (how romantic!) then went to sushi. On the way home, we crashed the V-day party at Chateau Le Mar (my parents were there) and overly enjoyed the open bar.
One of my oldest and dearest friends got engaged two weeks ago. I'm thrilled but sad that it didn't happen until after we left SF (she's in Tahoe). So I'm flying out there in a few weeks to go dress shopping with her. Funny, she was so anti-wedding/anti-bridesmaid for my wedding - boy how that changes when its her turn. The wedding will be in Lake Tahoe in October, so I guess I won't escape the flying to weddings even though we're back (we have weddings in Seattle, Tahoe, Milan and NY this year).
I'm just starting to ramble now, but we don't have cable set up yet and Tivo's still in a box. Al's watching a kiteboarding DVD, so the computer's all I've got![]()
