Re: vacation help...where would you choose from these
I've heard some great things about Puerto Rico. Look into it.I've been to Cancun, but I wasn't that crazy about it. But then again, I went with some friends around Spring break and the whole trip was about them finding a man. I spend most the time by myself at the hotel (I must say the hotel was beautiful we stayed at the Melia) by the beach and pool, so I didn't really get to see the island as much as I would've.
Don't know much about ST. Thomas.

Too many kids in Cancun. They are drunk and stupid all the type. Really gross. Cancun itself is very pretty but not worth it.

It would probably depend on what sort of hotel I was staying in to decide btween St Thomas and Puerto Rico...but i would not go back to cancun in the summer..its unbearable.

Of the three, I would also chose between St Thomas and PR - depending on hotel and accomodations and what was included in the package.I went to Cancun for spring break in college and I guess I always think Cancun and my crazy Cancun memories....ahhh...but actually I do hear that Cancun is great in non-spring break times. I just don't think personally I can't get past the Cancun drunken crazy days of college!

Re: vacation help...where would you choose from these
I think it depends on what you want.Cancun is alot of fun. But it's the type of fun of going out and drinking and going to clubs. I LOVED Cancun but I was also younger when I went. At our hotel by the pool they had drinking games and water contests. But Cancun had probably the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.
St. Thomas is fun too but it's much more relaxing. There's stuff to do like water sports and little towns to walk around but its much more laid back. It's also a big cruise ship town so I think alot of the town shuts down after the cruise ships leave. While you are there you can go to St. John's for the day and that is beautiful.
Puerto Rico is really nice too- I will be there again in April. Again the beaches are really nice but it doesn't feel too tropical to me. It's more like a urbanized city (San Juan). But its a nice mix of the other 2 islands I think. Water sports, rainforests, shopping, etc.
What hotels are you thinking about?

Try going to the south of Cancun, the Riveria Maya (its also called the Playa del Carmen area). It is not built up like Cancun, it is very laid back and some of the hotels are beautiful.

I second the Riviera Maya suggestion. However, I was there in December - I don't know what the summer temperatures are. We stayed at the Royal Hideaway and it was amazing! The prices through a travel agent are less than whats shown online.

I stayed in PR for 2 days before my cruise and didnt like it. It was more like a city than a tropical feel. St.Thomas was nice and Cancun too.

Re: vacation help...where would you choose from these
thanks for the help. i was thinking of the wyndham el san juan or the marriott frenchmans reef in st. thomas. If you have any experiences with these hotels that would be helpful.
