Vent-Hate living in an apt. in someone else's house.

I simply hate it. The landlady keeps her door open downstairs about 80% of the time and she always sees us coming and going and questions us. I'm too old to answer to someone where I'm going and why I am home early and why I stayed home today from work. You may be thinking this women is lonely, but she has tons of friends who visit her and call her daily. I pray just a few more months and we'll be out of here.

Anyone else in the same situation and hate it?

Holy intrusive!!!! I'd have to give over the top, uncomfortable answers to get her to shut the flip up & mind her own business. Next time she asks why you stayed home tell her you really needed to masterbate.

I feel your pain in a different way. Our landlord, landlady & their 2 children are wonderful. It's the headbanging crazy loud teenage driver a couple of houses over, potheads across the street that have us & & . Also the way people drive on this block amazes me. Since when is it acceptable to do 50 on a SIDESTREET .

i could have written this post myself! sounds just like my situation right now except the landlady is my mom!!

DH has lived there for 9 years and he is close w/her. She considers him a 2nd son. I used to be more friendly w/her, but then when she got too nosy I stopped. We get cheap rent cause he does the maintanance/snow removal and basic repairs. It stinks that I hate walking in someone else's house. I miss the days of living in my apartment complex. But I don't miss the rent.

I am sorry you have to deal with this. Luckily, we are in apartment complex, so no one questions us. When I go back to LI, however, my mom and dad still question where I go. Heck, even when I am 3 hours away, they still monitor my where abouts.

hmmm that sukks! sorry you have to deal with that!
i live on the 2nd fl of a 2-family house and my landlords are great - except they have 4 kids and they SCREAM like you wouldn't believe. that's their normal form of communication. BUT... i know we are probably not the ideal tenants either... so we put up with each others' sh!t
