video in but I am really upset

We just got the post card that our wedding video is in, but it doesnt make me happy at all!
In fact I am so upset right now that I feel like I want to throw up.
Basically to make a long story short, the DJ/MC that we used ruined our wedding and the last thing I want to do is be reminded of the embarrassment that he put us through.. So what do I do?
Pick it up and watch it (knowing that its going to make me cry and bring up all the horrible feelings that I had during and after the wedding)
OR
Pick it up, dont watch it and put it in storage.
DH feels the same way.. He doesnt want to see it either.

Pick it up and put it away until your ready to watch it.No matter what sooner or lateryou'll want to see it.
Buy the way what the heck did you Dj/Mc do to make it so bad?(if you don't mind me asking, if you don't want to answer I understand)

ali - let me first say how badly i feel for you - I would be very confused as to what to do as well. my advice, pick it up and then put it away for a while and then, when you're feeling a tad less upset, say in several months, watch it with your husband - just you two in case you do get upset.
that's what i would do.
i saw who your DJ was and I have seen them at many aprties and they seemed great - what happned? if you would like you could email me on my home address so as not to blast their name on here.

I would say pick it up and put it away .. when you are ready to watch it - watch it together. Sorry about your DJ/MC.

I agree with the other ladies. Pick it up and don't watch it yet if it will upset you. You are definately still very emotional right after the wedding so put it away for a while. Watch it when you are ready.

Hopefully some day when you do finally watch it you will laugh at whatever it is that is upsetting you so badly right now.

Thanks for your support ladies. I am going to pick it up because we paid for it, but I dont know if I will ever want to watch it. Seriously, I have a pit in my stomach right now thinking about it... and even 20 years from now I know I will be able to watch it.
I will FM those of you who asked, with details because I dont want to get into a vender war with anyone. But just so you know, we booked them because we saw them perform at a friends wedding and they were amazing!!! I didnt even look at any other dj companies because I thought they were THAT GOOD!
The DJ & MC we requested (who are on our contract, and we paid extra $ for) did not show. No phone call before the wedding or ever since the wedding. No appology, no explanation, nothing. It was devistating, the whole thing.

That's terrible! First off, did you ever address the issues you had with your DJ? If they were that bad, he should definitely be informed.

About the video - I'd pick it up anyway....you'll eventually want to watch it on your own down the road.

I agree with the other ladies, pick it up and put it away for when you're ready. Maybe you're videographer could edit most of the dancing out? I'm not sure what your DJ did, but maybe there is a way to cut him out enough so you don't have to be reminded throughout the entire video. What did your DJ do if you don't mind me asking?

I would definiteley pick it up. Maybe you could give it to a close family member to watch first. Maybe the Videographer was able to create some magic and it won't be too bad. Have someone else review it first, maybe it won't be too bad. And either way, if you don't watch it, you will know it is there and one day down the road you will want to be reminded of how beautiful you and your DH were and how wonderful the place was and you'll get to watch what all you guests may have said, regardless of the music. i would pick it up- you will have memories of everything else. Im sorry you had a bad experience. I had your dj at my wedding and they were amazing. i booked them based on what i saw at other weddings and they were great. thats why im shocked that you had such a negative experience!!! i guess we all have bad experience. mine was my limo bus. they overbooked my bus and sent me a dirty atlantic city type bus to pick me up it was horrible!!!!!!

FM = forum mail = you have a message from another liwedding member, look at those green icons that go across this page.. one says home, one says my account and the next Forum Mail. If you click on that, you may have FM!!!

BUMP = is to bump the thread up to the top to get more replies...

ETA - I really didnt want to get into the whole DJ thing and its my fault for bringing it up. I really just wanted advice on what you would do if you were in my shoes.
I am not knocking the DJ company.. Just what happened in my particular situation sucks.

I think I will store it for now, and if I get over my bad/sad/ angry feelings toward everything that happens, I will watch it sometime in the future. I think by even posting this thread it proves to myself that I am not over it and I am not ready to watch it.

Hi Ali.. We both went through similar situations with our DJ's. I have to tell you to try to watch that video. We got our uncut one a month ago and I was so upset and sacred to watch it. DH and I actually laughed at the fact that even though our DJ played nothing we wanted, people were still so happy to be there for US! The ceremony was so cool. To see DH's face, to hear our vows said and to look at everyone there for us was all that that day was about. Watch it, you can always cut them out and dub over the music.

Can you FM what happened? I'm curious...can you sue? if their names were on the contract...them not showing up is a breach of that said contract.....
