Have you tried a Home Goods store? I have shopped there for some household stuff and its where I plan to get some wall art as well.
i did, just didnt see like anything so dramatic that i loved....i guess im looking for real paintings i think lol
Oh! Well I am not sure if Queens is far for you, but I was recently in the Atlas Park Shopping Center and they have a new shop that carries Wall Art.

Re: wall art?
see if there are any local art shows near you....i used to do outdoor ones & sell my photography...i also have some local artist's work on my walls & it's a nice touch instead of the mass produced stuff you'd buy retail...just a thought!

Re: wall art?
Right now i have a lot of stuff from home goods because it's all dh's nautical theme stuff. I have to keep it up because I know if I take it down and replace it he will kill me. So I wait until we have a house and he can put it all in his 'rec or bar' area.
I have some photographs taken by me framed and matted and a few I had purchased at fairs and art shows. Nothing more then $40 spent on any of them with the exception of this one photographer that I had collected three photographs from him. He does all 'irish' things and is sold in every irish shop on LI/NYC area.
Best bet scope out street/craft fairs they are all coming up or check out what is going on at the oakdale arboretum they have shows all the time and great artist.
OR home goods.

This might sound weird, but look at Ikea. We have seen some great prints and actual canvas works there over the years, and you just never know. Also try Pier 1.
Other than that, you could try going to an art show that pop up from time to time at the local universities. They used to have them almost quarterly at Stony Brook and CW Post.

I use ART.COM for pictures and they can frame it for you there too.. I have Starry Night in my bedroom from them that's so cool!!
We also bought some cool pictures from Bed Bath and Beyond and sometimes Target has nice pics
here's some cr@p but I'm not good at photographing my stuff... I sent you FM.
Definitely check out some local art shows... you can find really great unique stuff AND you're supporting your local artists...

so i've been browsing craigs list and i found 2 things i really liked, contacted the seller and found out she's in the middle of nowhere staten island and there's no way i'm going there to pick up. i ask if she works in manhattan. no. i ask if she has any suggestions. no. gee thanks. i ended it by saying sometimes i pass thru staten island (when im on an AC junket that is) so if they dont sell can i contact her again about it. awaiting reply.

One of my favorite things to do( that you can maybe keep in mind for the future is.)..everytime I go away some where...different state, country, whatever...I always make sure to buy a piece of wall art of some kind to bring home and hang up. That way I have a great memento of where Ive been and theres a story and a meaning behind everything thats on my wall.
