Okay I am the MOST emotional person in the world. I am one of those :planned my wedding from the womb: type of brides. I planned entirely by myself. I had my share of stress, and a few hiccups but nothing too drastic dyring the planning.
I get sad after holidays like Christmas or my birthday because I can't believe its all over. I got depressed after my COUSIN'S wedding because it all went by so fast.
My wedding day was perfection and (cliche alert) the best day of my life.
BUT
I am so glad it is over. It has been about two months and I am ecstatic that it is over!! I am actually worried that the sadness is going to hit me LATER when I least expect it. . . I have suffered from anxiety/depression before so I am on the look out but honestly I am the happiest I have ever been in my life and I would NOT go back to the planning for a BILLION dollars!!!
Actually, I am SO OVER THE WEDDING that I can't WAIT to pick up my thank you's - i will seriously have the thank you's, video and albums done before the six month mark because I never want to do anything wedding related again except for ogle my pictures.
I actually feel guilty about this? Did anyone else feel like this? Will it hit me later?

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
I can relate! I felt a sense of relief when it was all over. Don't get me wrong I loved everything and was very happy but sooooo glad that I could just go back to the pre-wedding days when I could lounge on the weekends and not spend hours debating on flowers or centerpieces. I sent my TY's out in record time just to get it out of the way! I didn't want to have to look at them on my dining room table everyday.

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
I was very stressed towards the end of the planning - as MUCH as I had done ahead of time, the fact that I still lived at home and we had just gotten a new place a few weeks before the wedding that we had to have painted, fixed, find and order new furniture, move, etc. - with all the last minute wedding planning - OMG, I was dying! Everything turned out great, but seriously I was so happy it was over!
I am actually pretty surprised how little interest I have in doing any of the post wedding things! We have yet to pick enlargements, photos for the albums, songs for the video, etc. We JUST ordered our TY's because it was SOOO hard to pick a few pics for the collage style and if it wasn't 4 months already since the wedding, we might have waited longer to pick!!! It's just weird that it's all over.

i can understand that
I was with DH for ten years when we got married and engaged for over two - i think that is why i was totally over it.
its almost pathetic to think i devoted two years of my life to ONE day. . .as wonderful as that day was
i would love to relive the wedding every day like groundhog's day just not a moment before
and my TY's are weighing so heavily on my mind - i do not know how people wait so long to do them. . .i am going nuts i cant wait to get them over with - the only thing that has been delaying me is i hate to go do stuff when my nieces and nephews come over after work - i missed so much time with them for the stupid planning! LOL

When it was over I was happy that my planning made me able to have a great day and that everything went as planned. I didn't ever think of my wedding until the day I was actually proposed to. With that said when it was over I was bit sad.
I was engaged for three months so picking a dress was not as laid back and enjoyable as i thought it would be. I had to go to 5 stores in one day. I love my dress and am so happy with my choice but I didn't even get to try the ugly ones on for fun. Oh and all the bridal store ladies staring at my stomach and asking me if I needed an empire waisted dress was fun too.

Amen, sister!
I had the best time on my honeymoon because i wasn't celebrating our marriage - i was celebrating the END of wedding planning FOR-EVER!!!!!!!!!
don't get me wrong, i loved every moment of it, but the stress and the anxiety, and the planning every second, stressing over every possible scenario, was just too much....the day after the wedding, i felt like i did when i graduated college - accomplished and greatful that it was OVER!
ever since then i've been eating like a pig and living life to the fullest! be HAPPY the wedding is over and don't be scared that it'll hit you sometime...if it hasn't hit me, it won't hit you! *hopefully*
p.s. - i totally got everything wedding planning done right away too...i had your mentality, i can't WAIT to get this over with! album & video are done! congrats!

LOL thanks - good to see someone further along and still HAPPY!
When DH and I got into the limo after the church - the very first thing i said to my new husband, since i am a classy broad was:
'I am never farking planning another farking thing again for as long as i live'
The limo driver actually turned around to look at me, he probably through some demon had come into the car!
and oh yeah - my album is basically picked out - just trying to cut a few more pictures out, my thank yous are getting picked up monday. . . i cant wait to have NOTHING on my mind besides what the text message killer is doing on general hospital!

I think you hit the nail on the head.
Now that the wedding is over and there is not so much a time crunch anymore, I just don't seem to have the enthusiasm to sort thru the proofs to make up my album, to order our enlargements and some for my dad and his parents. I have my TY cards, but just can't seem to start writing them. I took them to work to start writing during my lunch hour and my afternoon break, but conveniently find something else to do. Weekends are just so busy, being a housewife, taking care of aging parents, trying to have a social life.
I am trying to adjust to living in a smaller apartment, trying to make it mine as well as his.
I think it is all because even though we have been married for 130 days, we are still adjusting and trying to find our routine.

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
The last 3 weeks before the wedding I was a WRECK. I thought my husband would divorce me BEFORE we said I do lol. But surprisingly, the last week right before the wedding I was soooo calm.
The night before I was eating guacamole and singign along witht he Mexican band at the resturant we went to celebrate the night before. I was calm even though everything went wrong that night and carried into the next day because I was like 'I have done as much as I can HUMANLY do. It will be what it is.'
AFTER the wedding it was stressful-trying to get our apartment settled, learning to live as hubby and wife as we uncovered one another's secret neurotic foibles that drove the other nuts. It was INSANE!
But now I think we have finally drifted into that happy, neutral state where life is just good and ALL thr weddign related headache (enlargments, albums, ty cards) is OVER and we can just chill. So yea..I think Im definetly glad all that drama is over and I can ENJOy BEING A HPPILY MARRIED WIFE rather than developing an ulcer in my planning tTO be a wife.

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
i miss my wedding day. it went by way too quickly, as did the HM. our engagement was only 9 months long, and we still took our time w/ the planning, didn't stress about one single thing. i really think we were the most laid back bride and groom to be. there was never a time where we felt rushed or stressed. now is actually the time that we (or at least DH) is starting to feel stressed, as we're going to sell our condo and start house hunting. but i really wouldn't mind planning my wedding over again and reliving the day. i also have the gift of hindsight now and know what we would have added, or have done without, so planning it again would be much easier.

Yeah, I could go Groundhog Day and re-live my wedding day over again. I had fun, I felt pretty, and it was a relatively stress free day. Even the rain didn't bother me.
It is the planning, the running around, the stress that my sis caused me, and the stress of getting DH to understand certain things and to HELP ME, that I can do without. I just want to wear my dress again.....

UGH YES! hated planning, well MOST of it anyway... LOVED every last second of the actual day but was thrilled when it was over and was on my HM. then i was thrilled to come home and move in... its still exciting to me, fixing up the house and all that jazz.. I truly enjoy being MARRIED and not the BS that noone remembers about my wedding planning

I agree one hundred percent. Though DH says he just wants to do the reception over and over again.

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
thanks everyone for making me feel less freak-like!
i kept waiting for some dark cloud to descend on me - i totally get how some people could get sad after its all over
but i guess i am just lazy or something bc i LOVE having nothing to do! (by nothing i mean working, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, finding time to hang out with my nieces and nephews, making time for date night with the hubby, chatting with my friends, looking for a program to improve my italian skills . . . . .)

Re: was anyone HAPPY the wedding is over?
I was sooooooooooooooo HAPPY the wedding was o-v-e-r!
DH & I were together for more than 5 years before we got engaged, and we were engaged for about a year and a half. By the time the big day arrived, I just wanted to get married to him already!
I wasn't one of those Brides who enjoyed planning, everything just seemed stressful to me. I'm not a good decision maker, so having to pick who our vendors were going to be ... especially picking our RH & our DJ .... caused me many sleepless nights debating everything over and over and over and over again in my head.
A lot of things were also extra stressful for me because I did them myself. It wasn't a matter of just looking through invitation albums & picking one I liked. I made them all myself. Same for a lot of the details of our wedding day.
Also, a month before the wedding I starting having excruciating pain in my arm, back & neck ... which put a total damper on a lot of things for me, and still does . Having to sit with a bag of ice cubes on my arm while I had my hair & makeup done was not fun. Sitting with the ice in between pictures was not fun. Going back up to the Bridal Suite by myself after the 1st dance to ice my neck was not fun.
Like some of the other girls, I am also surprised at the total lack of desire I have to wrap up the last minute wedding tasks (getting my dress cleaned, taking care of ordering the albums and enlargements, writing the thank yous, etc.). I just have no strength to focus on anything wedding related right now.
I don't think I had the Post Wedding Blues at all.
Our wedding day was completely awesome, but I am so glad I never have to do that ever again!
