We gave Louie away

We decided to give Louie to our really good friends who will give him a good life and home...one that he he very much deserves.

Him and Bella didnt get along...but on top of that he has a heart murmur and he has intestinal parasites The vet said theyre contagious to other dogs and humans too. He will also eventually need surgery on his heart. It was just too much for us to handle financially and emotionally wise...seeing worms coming out of him every mornining didnt help (sorry TMI). DH feels horrible for bringing him home and apologized a million times.

I miss him so much
But atleast hes going to an amazing home...thats the only thing that makes me feel better...but i feel so guilty.

awww dont worry. your friends will take good care of him.




(on the other hand our puppy that we've had for 3 weeks is driving me absolutely up the wall so if you have any advice for me - id really appreciate it
im about to loose my mind - ugh

aw.. you poor thing i am sure you did the best thing for both you & Louie. i am sure he is in good hands.. since they are good friends, can you visit him occasionally??

i luv my dog to death, i don't know what i would do without him.

I love my dog to death too and would never give her away under any circumstances. We had Louie for one week.

Oh Milana i'm so sorry, I know that could NOT have been easy for you guys

I'm curious was he a petstore puppy? Frequently they have those parasites and you rarely know it til they get home with you; he should be FINE with a vet's careI'm sure. And with the move, etc, its probably better to settle in first and get Bella set up before introducing another puppy.

But how wonderful that your good friends have him, you'll get to check in on him and maybe he and Bella will get along better as cousins than as siblings

Oh no Milana, Im almost glad the boards are slow b/c this thread has the potential for becoming a hot bed of drama. I've seen it on here before with other women who gave away their dogs.

He wasnt from a petstore...a guy that DH works with found him outside (someone dumped him!)and he was going to take him to a shelter...so DH felt so bad he brought him home. Yea the only thing that puts me at ease is that i know he is in a good home

Hes a poodle mix. Most likely matlipoo, since thats what he looks like, but were not 100% sure.

Well I think thats why i feel so guilty, b/c im not one to be irresponsible with animals, i love them more than i love humans and would do anything for them. This was just a really unpleasant situation to be in for me, DH, and my adult dog. I also would sometimes look negatively upon people who would get an animal and then give them up or give them away --I would think how irresponsible of them. Now i know what it feels like to be on the other side.

I refused to bring him to a shelter, if DH and I couldnt find him a good home, we wouldve kept him.
