We got our wedding video today!
And I kind of have mixed feelings about it. I wish I could say that I think it's amazing, but there are some things about it that kind of bug me. Not all of them have to do with the quality of the video either. Most of it is about me being self-critical!
For example, I hate wearing lipstick because it always dries out my lips, and then my lips stick to my teeth. So every friggin 5 minutes in the video you see me licking my teeth. SO annoying and unattractive!
Then, I WISH someone had told me at the reception to POWDER my face! I looked like a big shiny grease-pit!![]()
The things about the video quality itself that bug me are that the opening song where you see the chapters on the DVD is supposed to be a song from the 'Gladiator' soundtrack. I was VERY specific about that, but yet they decided to use some boring, instrumental song that I've never heard of (I'm going to e-mail them to see if they'll change it).
They also didn't show the look on DH's face when he first saw me in the church (I saw it in the raw footage - he made this jaw-dropping face. It was great so I don't know why they left it out!)
And then the recap - well it was different than what I thought it was going to be. What it is is they take scenes from the video and string them together and put it to music. The scenes they use are repetitive because you've seen the EXACT same shots already throughout the video (I guess it truly is a recap - I thought they'd at least pick different shots but from the same moments). And the recap song that they were supposed to use was supposed to be an instrumental version of the Bryan Adams song from 'Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves'. But instead they used the Bryan Adams song itself ('Everything I Do, I Do it For You' was our first dance song). That song is fine, but I was never told this and never approved it. I really love that instrumental version too. If it was necessary to change the song for editing reasons, fine, but I was never told that they were making the change.
All in all I loved the video and can't wait for the family to see it. They got some really nice, artsy shots, but it just wasn't as perfect as I was hoping it would be.
Maybe I'm being too critical..... *sigh*
