We spent...

our first wedding anniversary in Montauk this weekend. My husband surprised me w/ a trip to Gurney's Inn! Although the weather was bad, we enjoyed spa treatments and great food. We had dinner at Della Femina's in East Hampton on Saturday night, it was very good.Yesterday the weather was a little better so we went into town and to the lighthouse. Then we spent the day in Southampton with friends for lunch and dinner. We brought the top of our wedding cake along to eat on 8/2 (our actual anniversary) and to my surprise it actually tasted good!

happy anniversary! How was Gurney's? Were the rooms nice? How about the staff? I heard it was going downhill a few yrs ago but then maybe was bought by someone else?

I researched going there for our 1st yr anniversary in October, but the prices were still really high, even though it's 'off season'.

The cake was good! We used the house bakers at the Carlyle, and although they didn't decorate the cake the way I wanted (and provided pics of), it was really good. After a year in the frezzer double wrapped in ziplock bags it still had a nice taste.
