wedding coordinator..

This may sound strange, but I want to hear any horror stories involving day-of-coordinators. I'm not interested in names, just issues that came up that we may need to be aware of. My daughter hired someone for the entire day, from the morning at home to the end of the reception. I'm concerned about how other people and their egos will handle someone telling them what to do - photographers, bridal party, reception hall maitre-d, etc. It seems like a perfect way to take the stress away from me and my daughter that day, but I'm really starting to wonder how this all plays out. Thanks.

Re: wedding coordinator..

When I was in college, I did this as a side job. Unfortunetely, there are a lot of wedding vendors that dont like to take direction...anything from the priest to the catering hall to the photographer. Its a very politically charge position the coordinator is in. I never had any diasters from the brides perspective b/c the objective of everyone involved was to make her happy..but I had my run ins with certain vendors that were trying to overcharge the couple or leave early or not follow their requests. If your coordinator doesnt have any of those, then she is probably not doing her job.

Re: wedding coordinator..

I LOVED having my coordinator on my wedding day. To me personally, she was one of my best investments. All of my stress was on her shoulders. As long as you communicate your expectations with your coordinator everything should go well. You may also ask to attend one of her upcoming weddings to see how she works. She should have no problem with that. Definitely, build a relationship with her. You need to know that you trust your wedding in her hands. Precise97

Re: wedding coordinator..

I agree with precise...a coordinator was money well spent for me too. Considering the money that is spent on that day, a coordinators fee is very small for all the value that she adds.

If she allows you to attend a wedding of another bride, I would be worried. She shouldnt be allowing uninvited guests to her clients weddings. But you could ask for some recent references and get in touch with them.

Re: wedding coordinator..

hi - just wanted to let you know that my experience at the woodbury was so stress free because of their bridal attendant! They even had someone go to the store to buy me a garter because i left mine at home! She made sure i had food in the bridal room and followed me around and arranged for whatever i needed!
