Mine would definitely have to be my great grandma ALWAYS being at our house every Christmas morning for the first 20 years of my life (she passed away before th 21st). She would always sit in the background and watch my family open all of our presents. When we were finished she would give us her Christmas presents. Having my great grandma there for so many Christmases was something so special to me and something I will always treasure in my heart.

On christmas eve my moms side of the family gets together. They have been doing this since before I was even born, probably a 35 year tradition. Since I have 14 first cousins on that side of the family its a HUGE party. When we were little they would dress us all up in matching pajamas and make us sing christmas carols until santa came to hand out presents (it was usually my grandmas neighbor who would dress up for us). We always had this party at my grandparents house and I can remember it being SO fun. My grandparents moved to Pennsylvania probably when I was about 8 or 9 and since then my aunts alternate houses for the party. This year its at my parents house.. SO EXCITED!! Now that we are older its a drunken mess but still so fun.
About 3 years ago on christmas eve my grandma suprised all of us with matching sweatshirts with a santa clause on it and our name...(like our mathcing pj's when we were young). It was so funny and cute. Since then we all wear our sweatshirts to christmas eve.
I just love celebrating with my moms family. I look forward to it every year

just that my brother would always wake me up at like 5 am to get my stocking (we were allowed to open our stockings as soon as we woke up) then we had to wait till my parents made coffee etc before we opened presents... but my brother would wake me up, so i can get my stocking because he already opened his and wanted to see what was in mine!

On x-mas day we would always have breakfast with the family and opening presents...I loved smelling breakfast being made and that would always wake me up in the morning. I am now going to do the same thing this year and when we have kids I will do the same. We also would have dinner that night with the family. Just a family filled day. We really didnt have a large family growing up so it was more of an intimate gathering and the tradition will go on.

My fondest holiday memories all center around family. I loved spending the holidays with my grandparents and my aunts/uncles and cousins. Once my grandparents passed away we tried to keep up with the same tradtions but it just isn't the same. Since my mom passed away in 2007 nothing is the same and it never will be but all I can do is make the best out of it. I'm sure things will be better once I have children but there will always be something missing...my mom. She won't be there to see them being born and watch them grow up and they won't have their grandmother to get to know and love. Sorry for getting all sad...I am crying as I type this. This time of year is very hard for me...it always was since my grandparents passed but since loosing my mom it has just gotten even harder.

I always enjoyed Christmas Eve, because that's when my older sister would come over and we had more people over and it was a bigger deal and we would open one stocking stuffer.

Every Christmas Eve was always at my grandma’s house in Bayside, and before we were allowed to open presents me, my sister and all of my cousins crammed into my uncle’s minivan and had to drive around the neighborhood singing Christmas songs.
It was cute when we were little, but now trying to pack five 30ish year olds, my two uncles, and my 7 year old cousin into the van it’s getting a little ridiculous.

Scarily enough, I actually do have a picture!
My uncle usually takes out the middle seat so there’s more room on the floor. And now somehow this year we’ll have to fit DH in here along with my cousins new wife! Hahaha
