We use to go to Lake George Alot...my parents had a house 1/2 hour away, up in the Mountains.... I don't think the stores start to Open up until Late April-May. I mean some stores are open, but you will not get the Full Effect of Lake George Town unless it it Open.
In the summer we rented a Boats & went out on the Lake, We took a horse & carriage ride, & drove these Cars called Scoot Cars. Fort William Henry is there also, that might be open Year round. I had Fun at Lake George.

I went to LONG BEACH ISLAND ,NJ 2 wks ago at a lovely B & B it was wonderful!
Fireplaces and all and pretty reasonable.

we just went to Mystic CT a few weeks ago, there was a bunch of stuff to do, not to far of a drive and the hotels are cheap this time of they year. it only took 2 hours to drive there too. We had such a great weekend! we left Friday and came home sunday.

I tell everyone to come to Newport Rhode Island. We love it here.
You take the ferry out of Orient Point to new London (after shopping at the Riverhead outlets, of course), and you drive 1 hour & you are in Newport. Its very affordable this time of year & there is still a lot to do. There's the mansions, the Cliff Walk, Ocean Drive, whale watching, seal cruises, shopping, the Tennis Hall of fame, shopping & great restaurants. Oh, and me
