I thought I'd post and see what ladies consider good low fat snacks.
I usually go for a handful of almonds or half an apple sliced up in smaller pieces with peanut butter. Jiffy makes these 'on the go' sized peanut butter cops. Perfect for single servings at work. You're supposed to combine good carbs and proteins for a well rounded snack but Im so lost on ideas aside from the apples!

Re: Weid topic: Snack foods
our kitchen here at my office is always stocked with snacks but EVERYTHING is healthy & organic. It used to annoy me but now I like it. We always have trail mixes, dried fruit, soy nuts & energy bars hanging around. No soda, just waters, juices & teas.
We also have a chef who makes us lunch every day & its always healthy (yes, we're a little spoiled). But his idea of a 'cheat day' is when he makes veggie lasagna with no fat cheese & fruit for dessert.
Every now & then I have to go out & get a burger & fries! I can't always eat bulgar wheat & grilled fish.

DANg you're good lol. We have folgers coffee in our frudge lol.
What brand of energy bars do you like btw? Im so picky with them becasue some have more sugar than they're worth in such small servings. any faves?
And thanks about the kashi rolls and other snacks girls! I LOVE kashi cold cereal. the sugars almost as bad as swetened cerals which is CRAZY lol cause healthy cereal isnt healthy! but it does have alot of protein which I like.

Re: Weid topic: Snack foods
Healthy snacking keeps me from devouring everything around me lol. work by Grand Central so sooooo easy to give into temptations. Juniors is RIGHT downstairs. so as long as I feel relatively full (of good things) I leave the junk alone.

Re: Weid topic: Snack foods
Since we have a nice selection of junk food (and some healthy) in the vending machine in the kitchen, I try to stay out of there to avoid temptation. I eat plain oatmeal made with skim milk, cinnamon and unsweetened applesauce for breakfast everyday. Good for my heart and keeps me full longer. I bring a regular yogurt for late morning or afternoon snack (I don't like artificial sweeteners, and fat free yogurts add too much other stuff), and keep a small basket of fruit on my desk. Right now there is an apple and a couple of clementines in there. I also have dried cranberries and some low fat granola bars in my desk when I need sweet.
I don't like cottage cheese, but sometimes eat part-skim ricotta cheese with a little cinnamon and either fresh or dried fruit, as a snack.

Ruffles Light are only 1 WW point. they taste like regular chips -- that's a good BAD snack.
I love tangy and sour things... so I'll eat pepperocinis and hot banana peppers and pickles.
I wish i could snack on fruit. it doesnt satisfy me. my husband loves berries and oranges... i wish i could be more like him but i need salty snacks

Re: Weid topic: Snack foods
I love Polly-o 2% string cheese, Fiber One granola bars, bananas with PB, mini bags of microwave popcorn, baby carrots, and a handful of crackers with Laughing Cow light cheese. I'm a big snacker and I'm definitely guilty of eating a lot of artificially healthy stuff (fake sugar, lots of salt).

Re: Weid topic: Snack foods
I portion out the pre-cut/washed baby carrots (8 per snack bag) and bring in 2 tbsp of garlic hummus. Very low cal and I get the crunch that I crave without devouring chips.
I also bought a giant bag of trail mix at Costco, and again portioned out 1/4 cup (1 serving, which is 160 cal) into snack bags and have that in my munchy drawer at my desk.
I have an entire file drawer in my desk here that is just food- luna bars, trail mix, 100 cal bags of popcorn, tea, coffee etc. I try to stay away from the cafeteria as much as possible, b/c then i'm tempted to get chips.

Where do you work? That's great that you guys have a chef.
I snack on potato chips and Almond Joy. Not healthy, but it works.
Sometimes just some fruit juice will do the trick.
But I eat all the time (it's terrible)
Earlier, I had a craving for garlic knots, but the pizzeria (lucky for me) sold out on those for today. So I'll have to snack on an apple instead.
