What are some of the qualities that made you marry DH

Good looks and money are nice......but what are some of the wonderful qualities that initally attracted you to your DH and made you realize that this relationship was 'different?'

For me, it was kindness, consideration, and generosity. He is so kind.........I remember early on when we were dating, we were both living in NYC....not the warmest place in the world. THere was a woman having a horrible coughing/gasping attack. It sounded disgusting! THe noises were awful. It was actually pretty gross. Everyone was walkiing rushing by, and my DH got really upset and went up to her, asked her if she was okay....she insisted she was fine yet he went into a restaurant nearby and got her water anyway.
Another time, there was a totally crazy freak running through the streets....clearly on drugs. He was running around aimlessly, and was totally STRUNG OUT. He was running into the trafficy street. .Nobody cared....not even me. I thought he was a dangerous NUT!
DH called 911, and insisted on keeping an eye on him to prevent him from running into moving cars until help came..........he was really upset!

Those random acts of caring....to total strangers ....is really special.
I knew that if he cared that much about random strangers....I couldnt' even imagine how he would treat me.

what a great thread!

he's an ambitious scientist (hoping the ambitious part rubs off on me a bit more )

he comes from a culturally similar background, and has similar values to me

he does 1/2 the household chores w/o debate

he doesn't argue..... truly! even after 3 1/2 years of living together... neither do I.... its soooo peaceful at home

home cooking is VERY important to me, and its important to him too. he is willing to try anything, and isn't a fussy eater (surprise hon! its ethiopean for dinner!)

we're both home bodies, so its natural for us to hang out at home.....

I always was attracted to guys who were unique. DH has a very unique personality and sense of humour which was the first attraction to him when we were kids.

I love my DH b/c he is so smart and he bends over backwards for me and never hesitates to help me or listen to me when I have a problem. He truly is my best friend.

After going through a bad relationship with my ex I realized how important it was to find someone who had a good head on their shoulders and that is exactly what my DH has.

He is also family oriented which was a big thing to me and he takes relationships very serious.

He also gets along with my family very well which is a huge plus to me.

He never just thinks of himself, he thinks of me too if he is purchasing something for himself.

he really is a genuine guy in my eyes.

after dating one for 4 years before meeting DH....I'd have to say the fact that he WAS NOT A MOMMA'S BOY!! BUT at the same time, he showed me how much he respects his mom. Mike immediately displayed qualities that identified himself as a 'man's man' he loves sports, he goes hunting, he's very protective of whomever he's loyal to (whether its his girlfriend OR his friends).....and yet he was just so kind & sweet with me, and I felt like I could take comfort in having this strong man just love me for me. Whereas the guy I dated before was more like a goofy friend, and most of the time we'd hang out w/ our friends all together, I felt like this guy (DH) was just seriously in love with me........I guess it was just nice to allow myself to fall in love again after being w/ someone for 4 years.

His INSANE sense of humor......the man is crazy!!! lol. His Faith & values, his sensitivity and his priorities... and also how he's so laid back - i think he's the only person that can calm me down when i need calming lol.

There are so many things that attracted me to DH. He is into his family and hopes to have children. He has an amazing sense of humor and he has the biggest heart. He is such a intelligent, caring, king and loving person. I remember when we were first dating and I stayed over. I woke up in the morning and was sick to my stomach (I had a slight case of food poisoning). He took care of me the entire day and he held me until I feel asleep. I looked up at him and he had this smile on his face, that told me that everything was going to be alright and it was at this moment that I knew that he was the man for me.

He's just sweet and loving. Treats me like a queen and spoiles me. He also has agreat sence of humour and has his moment of being a complet goof ball. lol

the biggest one: he can always make me laugh.

i am a fighter, and i have a nasty temper, but very often he can say or do something silly or funny that makes me crack up, and loosens me up, so i'm not mad anymore. it's a huge help to our relationship.

another big one is how loving he is. he is constantly telling me how much he loves me, and why, he is very affectionate - and he doesn't mind spending every waking moment with me when we have the chance. i love that he doesn't get tired of me!

Definitely his sense of humor (I like to joke around a lot - I need someone who can take a joke), his kindess, generosity. There are so many things.

But I always tell him I'm only with him because he's good in the sack (which is a VERY important quality)! See what I mean about the sense of humor thing!
