end of the world

I watched this the other night with DH and really wasn't the least bit scared. If the sun aligns perfectly with the opening of the Milky Way, then OK we're POSSIBLY screwed. However, why live the next few years thinking this WILL happen and be miserable? Let's face it, so many OTHER things can happen to any one of us or our family members any given moment.....that doesn't make us all live each day like something bad is going to happen!

Some people do get worked up about it though!

and now with the economy situation, and the whole global warming thing.....i dont know, ill be honest - what is happening in the world freaks me out - when you think about how we are destroying the planet and about how people are so greedy and evil and all the war, the natural disasters - hurricanes, tsunamis, its all really scary....i dont know

see, what i dont understand is that we have been at war before!! WW1, WW2, the cold war (thats about all the wars i can remember lol) and we have been in a depression before IE-the great depression... and we bounced back! we've had terrorist attacks on US soil before... aside from the natural disasters and global warming - i dont understand WHY ppl are like 'OMG were in a depression - the stock market crashed, we're at war... the world is going to end' when the world has been in this state before

i didnt read the LIF post but we watched a few shows this week on the 2012 end of the world stuff and i assume thats what the post was about.....i dont know, it kind of creeps me out.....especially with the whole mayan calendar thing....and seriously in the last few years its been nothing but bad things happening all over the world (war, natural disaster) - and now with the economy situation, and the whole global warming thing.....i dont know, ill be honest - what is happening in the world freaks me out - when you think about how we are destroying the planet and about how people are so greedy and evil and all the war, the natural disasters - hurricanes, tsunamis, its all really scary....i dont know, i believe that its going to happen one day, i just dont know if i think its 2012....i said to DH, if we knew for sure, i would totally max out all of our credit cards and live it up for the next 4 years hahahahaha

LOL, I said the same thing to DH. I said we should book a really BIG trip for the beginning of December 2012, because the date is supposedly December 21, 2012. I've been watching the programs all week on the History channel too with DH and he thinks its a load of crap, but I've gotta say, the fact that the Mayan calendar, the torah, the bible, and nostradamus make predictions about 2012 is a bit freaky to me. But with watching, they also said that it can just be the end of how we live now. IDK, i'm a little skeptical, but a little scared at the same time

haha yes it was.... but this is aparently getting everyone all crazy b/c it says in a million different places and a million different people 'predict' this is going to happen

Why 2012?? What is the signifcance of that day?

the biggest thing that freaks me out is that there are multiple sources (i dont know what else to call it ) that are unrelated that all have the same idea about 2012 - so that is why its kind of freaky....

TM20008 - i know that there were wars before - all throughout time - but what is scary to me is that now there is tons of technology and weapons that can actually destroy the earth - and there are a lot of evil people out there - so that combination can't be good....if there was a WW3 i think the earth would get blown to pieces.....that scares me....

at least DH and I can celebrate our 4 yr anniversary right before it happens 12/20

what makes me want to call this whole 212012 a load of bull is that i went on the 'official' website and they had a gift shop with shirts, hats, mugs etc that said stuff like 'lets get ready to rupture' or '2012-THE END' all the models were smiling all nice and calm

so like really - if the world was REALLY and TRULY going to end.... would they really be selling all this crap - or are they just sick fuucks?

the thing that amazes me is the 2000 date only came up because of the fear of computers not understanding the change to 20. The 2012 date is picked up on various groups of people with no connection. I feel there will be a major shift on the earth but to say 'the end' no I do not think this. Maybe a huge war such as another WW or perhaps a temp shift like we are seeing now.

i definitely see your point of view. I don't think the world will end but maybe something monumental will happen...such as the war getting out of control and it possibly (pray to god it doesn't) turn into a world war. Or maybe the temp changing drastically. That makes more sense to me then the world ending completely. I don't know.

i agree with that....

if society really thought the world was going to end - omg i cant imagine how scary it would be - i think there would be so much crime, stealing, looting, killing, i think a lot of people would have the mindset of 'i could do whatever i want b/c im going to die anyway' - im trying to think of what movie this happens in - but i could totally see that happening if people KNEW for a FACT that it was over....
