what compromised did you make for your wedding?

i would have to say i was lucky with my dh because he pretty much let me run the show although i did compromised on the hall after my first choice was booked. i also compromised on having my sisters in the wedding party i did it for my mother she would have been upset.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

I really wanted to have picture of both our parents on their wedding day and a little collage thing I made displayed by the wedding cake. For several reasons hubby just didnt like the idea so I let it go, everything else was just what I wanted!

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

I did not spend as much as many of the girls today do and that is the reason i believe that we are able to buy a house only (almost a year) after the wedding. I look back and wish that I had a beautiful wedding picture package, a better hall..better this, that....but we agreed to sacrifice some things so that we could afford other things and not be paying for the wedding for years.

The size of the bridal party for sure. I just wanted my sisters and SIL (5), he had to have all of his 'best' friends (8). We don't even hardly talk to them anymore

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

-It was in NY
-There were many people
-The bridal Party was HUGE
-It was in January

'MY' wedding would have been in Vegas (at te Bellagio Hotel) with only our closest friends & family there & it would have been on our dating anniversay (June 18th).

BUT... I wouldn't change a thing

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

Getting married on Good Friday (in order to take our honeymoon right away and afford flowerfield)
Not having a church wedding, (which now I couldnt be happier about)
That's really it.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

Originally, I wanted a less traditional wedding. I wanted to do a weekend wedding in an unusual location like Salem on Halloween but my husband pretty much vetoed that immediately. So my second choice was a traditional wedding in New York. There were a few other things I compromised on but it was mostly what I had envisioned.

I think everyone makes certain compromies about $$. (I mean, you could easily have a $1M wedding without blinking now a days) We paid for our wedding 100% by ourselves so while our wedding cost plenty, we spent our money with a great deal of forethough and it was money well spent for us.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

I don't think we made any compromises either. Our wedding was us, and what we wanted. We didn't go overboard and we were able to pay for the wedding up front.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

We tried to blend a traditional English wedding with a traditional Long Island wedding--not easy!! We had an English hymn during the ceremony. We had dinner up front without any dancing between courses. We didnt' do the garter thing. I actually didn't care very much about any of these things...I was happy to do whatever. My parents on the other hand, were very uncomfortable with some stuff and I was stuck in the middle, it was horrible!! But it worked out okay in the end and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

I compromised on getting married in the Catholic Church as opposed to my church which is Lutheran and I compromised on getting a Croatian band in addition to our American band.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

My biggest compromise had to be how long our engagement was. I always said I wanted to have a short engagement - less than a year and wound up having a little over a year and a half. This was due to timing with my brother's wedding (he got engaged 1st but had a very long enagement so we overlapped. So I waited two months after him and had a long engagement....I didn't love the idea but thought it was for the best.

Also, I never wanted to get married in the church but since we had to get married after my brother - the weather would have been too cold to get married outside like I would have liked and Dh said it was very very important to him to get married in church. I was very uncomfortable with the idea but we did it.

Other than that the wedding planning was full of compromises. Dh and I planned everything together. So of course there was always differences in style and opinion and I don't believe that the wedding is all about the bride - so there were lost of compromises made on both sides during our planning.

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

the chair lift thing... i was soooo against it, but DH really wanted it so we left it in.... meanwhile i almost had my head smashed into the ceiling and almost slipped off the chair and DH was lifted by the girls and was almost dropped!!! HAHA serves him right!

# in bridal party. I would have preferred he kept his side smaller (and just have MOH and best man) , but he has too many close friends to leave anyone out.

but other than that we pretty much agreed on everything else.

That is exactly my situation and my comprimise too. We had 8 I wanted only small bp and we dont even talk to more than half of them anymore, Sometimes I think what a waste

We didn't get a video, or a photojournalist, to save money (both I wanted, but let them go, now wish I hadn't, but oh well!!)

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

First, I wanted to elope and get married on a beach..... but, we had the wedding. My compromise # 1

Then, the same as Niecey, there were many compromises on both our parts through out the planning. Much to my dismay, a wedding is NOT just about the bride. So, I had to let him pick some things.... like the song we walked in to

Re: what compromised did you make for your wedding?

The only thing was that DH wanted Prime rib and I wanted Chatau Briand. I gave in because this was truly the only thing he commented on about the wedding. He chose to not be involved and to let me do my thing.
