what did you all do with some of your wedding stuff? (garter, caketopper, etc)

what did you all do with some of your wedding stuff? (garter, caketopper, etc)

I'm wondering if anybody else is as sentimental as me. lol.

When we moved into our house right after getting married, one of the first pieces of furniture I got was a big display with four glass shelves, and we filled one of 'em with wedding stuff - pictures, our toasting glass, the Unity Sand Display, the cake toppers, the garter, etc. It looks awesome. hehe.

Anybody else save all this stuff? Sometimes I wonder how long we'll be keeping it all displayed. Hopefully most of it will always have a place in our home I love looking at it all. Bring back such good memories, of course

we have a little floor cabinet that we found on sale from BBB -- and we put the cake server, toasting flutes, sand ceremony container, arras coins, extra favors, etc. all in it.

friends can look at it when they walk into our apartment....its really cute.

My bo-k was decayed by the time I got back from the HM so I couldnt get it preserved and I just kept a few dried flowers from it.

I have our unity candle, the little napkin full of glass that DH broke for the ceremony and some shells we painted on the hm.

They are sentimental and will go in our curio caninet or something when we have a house.

I'll probably get a crystal dish of some sort for the flowers and glass.

Right now, they are on shelfs in our entertainment center. The glass and flowers are in baggies shoved behind things haha

I am not one for leaving stuff out -- but I have one petal from my bouquet in my jewelry chest ... and I have two of our favors (they are placeholders with leaves on them, and there's a tealight candle in the front) out in the living room. That's it though!

I think I'm gonna end up keeping some of it displayed my entire life, just probably in smaller areas. My sister (who got married 6 years ago) still has her cake topper on a shelf in her living room. And then she's got the Unity Candle in her piano room along with some wedding pictures. It looks nice. I have no idea what happened to the rest of her wedding things though. I guess you just need to downgrade though as you get more stuff and things get cluttered. lol.

I'm planning to keep my Lenox w/ pearl strand flutes and my precious moments japanese ceremony bride & groom to pass it on as wedding heirloom. I'm selling everything that I won't need- my hair combs, earrings, bracelet, extra wedding favor empty picnic baskets, wedding dress, reception dress, veil, purse due to lack of space in the house.

My toasting flutes, unity candle, ring pillow, and our wedding favor are in our china cabinet. Our wedding favor was a Lenox vase so it also has my dried out wedding bo-k in it.
I made a shadowbox with our wedding invitation, reception card, STD, garter, cake topper, etc.

I have our toasting flutes a bookcase that I have with glass doors... I think the garter is in my underwear drawer... the other stuff I guess I chucked... but I did sell my pew bows to an 09 bride. I didn't think to save myself a squirrel place card holder, so I don't even have one of those to display

that stinks.. did you get them from someplace that you can still get another one for yourself? Or is there a guest you think isn't likely to keep it that you can get one from?

I have my toasting glasses & some bubbles in my china cabinet... everything else in a box in my attic

Cake topper - sold to an 09 bride
Garter - in a drawer in the guest room with other stuff from my bparty
Toasting flutes - in a box in the guest room
Cake servers - in a box in the guest room
Flowers - I hung them upside down that night and let them dry while we were on our HM. I took a bunch of them and put them in a shadow box that's on the wall in our bedroom.

I have my toasting flutes and my cake server in my china cabinet. I got my bo-k preserved so i put my garter in there along with my invitation.

I got married in a Greek Orthodox church so we had crowns, my MIL got me something almost like a shadow box, but it is specially for the crowns and that is in my bedroom hanging on the wall.

haha I am not that sentimental. The only thing I have out is our ceremony candle, and that is up on the pie safe waiting to be displayed somewhere. My garter is actually in the spare room on a shelf with some of my collectible action figures lol :( I am such a loser..I know.

The champagne flutes are in the extra storage in our room as well. I guess b/c we don't have a house yet, and space is limited I haven't thought about displaying them. I am more into displaying pictures from the wedding I suppose. I can't wait to get some photo paper and mess around with some in paint shop.

we dont have a unity candle - we waited until the last minute - couldnt find one - and we ended up using my SIL's she had to bring it with her and we borrowed hers LMAO - its kind of funny that we borrowed a used unity candle hahaha.....

toasting flutes - we got as a gift, but we didnt really like them so we used regular ones at JT

my garter is in a box somewhere with a whole bunch of stuff from the wedding - like my DOJ, hair extensions my pashmina and some other things like our vows, ring boxes, etc. - its like the wedding 'junk' box

eventually i plan on making a scrapbook of our engagement/wedding/honeymoon and i was actually going to put some stuff in the book - like our hotel room key cards, our vows, and anything else i can fit onto the pages....

They were $12 for a set of 4 (which is why I only ordered exactly what I needed) so I'll live with not having one myself :)

Re: what did you all do with some of your wedding stuff? (garter, caketopper, etc)

My dried bo-k in a vase, my dad's bout, and one of the small table arrangements is in my wall unit. For the sweetheart table, we had small clay pots with roses and greenery in it and I just let those dry.
I also have my mom's memorial candle, the toasting flutes, cake serving set, and our escort card on display.
Some day I hope to make a shadow box with the invite, menu, a table number or two and some other decor along with a picture of us.
My garter, dress and shoes are in my closet.
The rest of the stuff, like candles, is around the house.

I was MOH at my sisters wedding back in 2003 and I did the same thing. i hung it on the mirror of my vanity table right after the wedding and it dried so beautifully. I kind of forgot about it and left it there for years. Looked like Potpourri and smelled pretty good too. lol. I finally got rid of it though when I moved out. I couldn't take every little thing with me. But I do kind of wish I had done it with MY wedding bouquet. It really upset me to have to move right after the wedding. I had to leave a lot of stuff behind (like the bo-k, my wedding dress, the frozen top layer of the cake...)
