Once you got married and got all new dishes and silverware, toaster ovens etc etc, what did you do with all your old stuff?
Im unpacking Christmas boxes from storage and found 2 more sets of holiday dishes. Now I have 4 sets of dishes! What do I do with all this?

A lot of what I got at my shower has been in use since then (August). I tossed my old toaster oven, knives, coffee maker, etc.
my everyday china and formal china is sitting in my mom's basement. DH and I will break it out when we move into our new place. We just don't have the room for it in our small apartment. same goes for stemware and other decorative items that we recieved.

Since we moved out of state in August, we just kept it all in boxes until we moved, then got rid of the old stuff by giving it to my sister. lol

After one of my BMs got married a few years ago (when I just starting law school and had my first real apartment), she handed down a bunch of stuff that a recent college grad probably wouldn't have - things like potholders, those cute flexi-cutting boards, various utensils like a pizza cutter, hand mixers, etc . So, I did the same thing for my friends - I asked who wanted what. The rest of it I ended up throwing out when we moved. I wish I'd been able to donate some of it, but I didn't have the time to coordinate that

Some stuff got thrown out, other stuff DH's parents took to give to their church. I intended to give away a lot more stuff to local charities or places I have worked but I moved all my stuff to DH's house the week before the weddings so that didn't happen

We gave our old dishes to the salvation army and gave alot of old furniture away to friends/family. We didn't have that much though.

We donated it all to a local soup kitchen that gives it out to families in need. And some other things we 'donated' to our single friends

I gave all my old stuff to my sister who just got her own place.

whatever is still usuable is being donated, someone can use it....i still have the boxes in my basement though....

my younger brother got some of it and other stuff was donated to good will.

Gave some to friends or family and donated the rest to Salvation Army (except for the stuff that was so badly used - that stuff we threw out.)
