Yes people are generally selfish, but I do believe that people are generally good, with little streaks of bad in them (some people's bad streaks are more developed than others).

I'm going to use myself as an example. I KNOW I'm a good person, and all good people have faults, mean streaks,and days when they just don't want to be bothered.That doesn't change the goodness in me at all. So I believe good people are good regardless.
I believe people are generally good. I love that commercial when people keep seeing other people do nice things and they pass it along.
i always tend to think that people are generally good which i like about myself....but it has back fired in my face more than a couple of times.

Honestly, I think people choose to be good or bad or a mixture of both. Then there are those who just choose to be mean and evil or just plain vindictive. In my case, DH had a cousin who didnt like that we were together, she made many efforts to break us up. Why? She really had no reason for it. To me that was her just being jealous for her own personal reasons. Personally her actions were just plain evil. Who was she to decide who he should be with and what made her think it was her job to do so. All the while she had her signifigant other who he dated and no could tell her otherwise. So to me she was and is evil though she apoligized, to me regardless she will always be bad.
