I call my MIL Mom and my FIL Dad DH calls my mom by her first name and my dad Dad.

'Hey You'....j/k but seriously I don't usually use their names I sort of avoid it cause it sounds weird when I say it....But I would call them by their first names though.

i call them by their first names...even though to me it feels weird to do that but it would seem weird to also refer to them as mom and dad as well....i guess ill stick to first names.

I don't call them anything. I just look at them and start talking. Nothing feels comfortable to call them so I just avoid it. If I write it in a card it would be mom and dad but in that case it's signed from both of us.

Honestly, my sil does that to my parents and it drives them up a wall. They think it is disrespectful. My husband calls my mom mom and my dad mike but he has called my dad dad. I call his mother Mrs. __________ she has never told me to call her anything different! My parents say I should have this conversation with her!

I call them mom & dad....At first I didn't feel comfortable doing it, but my MIL told me to do so

Originally I had planned on calling them mom and dad, but to be honest, I just cant reason doing that to my parents -- they raised me, gave birth to me, and love me unconditionally....i just cant call anyone else mom and dad.

Me too. When I call if FIL answers I just ask for MIL by her first name.

When i first met them i called them Mr. & Mrs. but they corrected me and told me to call them Noel and Mary. I would actually prefer to call them by their last name I feel weird calling up my buddy Noel to see how his day is going. Dh on the other hand calls my parents Mr & Mrs but he would prefer to call them by their first names

I told DH that if he calls my mom and dad - mom and dad, then I will call his mom and dad - that hasnt happened - so I guess they wont have a name! I do write mom and dad on cards though ....

That's what I was doing up until recently. I got tired of avoiding it so I just started using their first names. They haven't seemed to mind so far. DH still uses this technique on my parents though.

thats how i feel and my MIL pushes me to call her mom and causes a fight when i dont! i have a mother and only one mother and i want to keep it that way. she wants to try to be my one and only mother and its not happening! i never have called her mom before and i wont so everytime i see her i just start talking and when i need her attention i tap her on her shoulder and she HATES when i call myself her daugther in law she yells and says ur my daughter now! and i got so pissed once that i said no im not i have a mother and dont need another. i felt bad after but she pushes me to get nasty! oh if you ladies only knew the whole story I call his dad by his 1st name. DH calls my parents mom and dad Sorry for the little vent. MIL convos get me going LOL

i had this convo w/ mil b4 dh and i were married and she said i can call her whatever i want.. it just so happened the convo occured in a car ride w/ his aunt, cousin, mother and I.. his cousin was like well i call my mil mom... so i was put on the spot..so mil came to the rescue and said i have a mother already i don't need to call her mom i can call her by her first name.. she doesn't want me to call her MRS.. XYZ b/c thats her MIL.. and fil i call him Big Brian b/c dh is Little Brian.
