what do you make for dinner?

This seems to be a never ending problem. What do you guys make for dinner?? I seem to be making the same meals over and over again. I need some new creative and easy ideas? Does anyone else have this problem. We just end up going out to dinner at the end because I can't nor can he, come up with some new ideas.

Re: what do you make for dinner?

Well, we don't do much exciting, but our quick ideas for post-gym dinner nights are:

steak (grilled in pan with either rice or potatoes)

burgers

chicken (grilled usually in foreman)

tacos

pasta (either ravioli or plain, usually with chicken on top)

salmon

soup and salad with cold cuts

On weekends when we have more time, sometimes a turkey or chicken and then leftovers later in the week.

I think this could be helpful for everyone!!!

Here is a list of our 'usuals'

Chicken in Black Bean sauce
Chicken marsala
Lemon chicken
Chicken Cordon Bleu (minus the thick cream sauce)
Pork Chop and Apples (love this!)
Tacos
Penne alla vodka
Fettucine Alfredo (occasionally)

I can't think of anymore right now.
DH will not eat breakfast for dinner, which makes me crazy!!!!!

Re: what do you make for dinner?

Cook ahead on weekends and reheat:
* ground turkey or ground beef chili (McCormicks)
* Steak Pizzaola
* Meat Sauce (aka gravy, aka Sunday sauce) - freeze sauce in small batches of tupperweare, freeze meat in ziplock - and take out what you need
* Soups (sausage soup, bean soup, chicken soup, beef stew)

Cook during the week:
* Chicken & veggie stir fry w/ wraps
* fried chicken cutlets
* meatloaf muffins (take any meatloaf recipe and make it in a muffin tin instead. takes about 20-25 minutes to cook, then freeze left overs in ziplock. 1 lb of meat makes about 12-14 muffins. take out what you need next time. I get about 2-1/2 to 3 meals from one 1lb of meat.)
* sausage & peppers
* penne ala vodka with chicken & spinach (this I even made ahead - did all the steps but didn't add the cream yet. On Thursday when I make it, I'll bring the sauce back up to a boil then add the cream and simmer for 20 minutes while the pasta is cooking)
* chicken cordon blue
* grilled chicken (garlic, oilive oil, oregano, squeeze of lemon juice)
* steak
* london broil
* boneless turkey breast roasted
* Ribs with BBQ Sauce
* Lamb Chops

ETA: I alwys plan out the meals for the week on say the Friday before, that way when I go food shopping I know what to buy. We don;t 100% stick to our list but I like to know that I have at least 4 ideas for dinner for the week. If I make all 4 great, if I make 3 that's OK, I have ngredients for next week.
You just have to rememebr to freeze what you aren't going to cook and defrost the night before.

Re: what do you make for dinner?

I love to cook, but I'm not creative enough to come up with dishes on my own, so I clip a lot of recipes from magazines and cookbooks. On Sunday I go through the recipes and plan dinners for the week, then go to the grocery store to get what we need. I always try at least one new recipe every week.

To me there is nothing worse than coming home after work and having to think about what to cook, and whether we have the right ingredients.

Chop and saute onion and garlic.
Cut chicken into bite-size pieces.
With White Rice

I cook the rice at the same time. Cook the chicken in the wok (frying pan is the same). Once the chicken is cooked add 1 can of Goya black beans, I usually add a little water to the can so it gets all the black bean juice out of it. Add the onion and garlic.

When the rice is done I add the rice to the wok and just cook it all together for a few minutes.

I don't know if you mean like chinese chicken with black beans, but this is very different but very good.

You can put in any ingredient and get a ton of recipes.

I usually add the word easy to it

Re: what do you make for dinner?

My husband does a lot of the cooking. But I know what you mean by feeling stuck - it's always pretty much the same for us - chicken/beef/pork/fish with potatoes (sometimes rice, sometimes noodles) and a vegetable (usually frozen peas!)

But, when I was living on my own, I used to have a 'rotation':

chili with pasta or rice
chicken cacciatore
steak piazzola
macaroni and peas
meatloaf
Pasta primavera with chicken or shrimp
London broil
chicken marsala
marinara sauce
pasta sauce (as someone else put it, aka GRAVY!)

My husband is pretty creative, though. Last night we just had chicken breasts, but he cooked them in sweet chili sauce and it was good! and we had mashed sweet potatoes with it.

Re: what do you make for dinner?

We usually make some sort of chicken...honey mustard chicken, boiled chicken, chicken balls (instead of meatballs), and stir-fryed vegetables. We make things that are quick since we both get home late sometimes.

Re: what do you make for dinner?

I love to cook! Here are a few of my ideas.

Chicken Cutlets -Fried and when on a diet they are Broiled.

Chicken Tacos- I make homemade corn tortillas out of the masaharina mix. and I fry it into shells (you can find it in any grocery store and follow directions) I love it with all the fixins...guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese

Enchiladas

Chicken Pot Pie- I buy the frozen vegetables, cream of chicken soup and mix in some chicken. Pour in a baking pie dish and cover with pastry dough or Bisquick. Yummy!

Chicken and Dumplings
Steak
Pork Chops- I like them in the oven in a plastic bag and I like them grilled.

Pasta- I usually like Penne with garlic and oil. I usually throw in chopped spinach. I saute the spinach with garlic first. DH loves linguine! I also use red sauce with pasta.

Chinese Vegetable Fried Rice

Chicken Franchise

Grilled, Fried, Broiled Shrimp.
Salmon

Meatloaf- Part Veal, Beef, Pork ( and they do taste great in the muffin pans)

Meatballs- Usually beef but when on a diet, I love the turkey!

Vegetables: Garlic Mash, grilled asparagus, sauted mushrooms, portebella mushrooms, corn on the cob.

Hope I gave you a few ideas.

Our usual is...
Turkey sausages w/ diced tomatoes and onions.
Perdue breaded low fat chicken cutlets w/ turkey bacon and low fat cheese on top.
Turkey meatballs w/ a side of pasta.
All very easy!

Re: what do you make for dinner?

We just moved in so our refrigerator is EMPTY, but here’s this weeks Menu.
Yes, I plan a week’s menu on Saturday nights. Just like the days of old.

Sunday
Baked Chicken, Mac-n-cheese and stuffing

Monday
Steak in Jim’s special gravy (REALLY GOOD) with mushrooms and white rice

Tuesday (this week no school)
Rigatoni and Penne Pasta with Vodka sauce
Sauce we get from a jar but first saute garlic and mushrooms before adding the sauce to it and then adding grated parmesan reggiano as well.

Wednesday (Physical Therapy Night)
Pizza
I have to study for an exam and while I shower Jim puts the pizza in the oven, It’s the fastest way since I get home so late.

Thursday (School night, class ends at 10pm)
No time for home cooking, we don’t get home until close to 11pm.
So we eat out (Fast food or sushi) before I go to class

Friday
Stir fry steak strips with carrots and celery with white rice
Jim makes it all from scratch

Saturday (Physical Therapy Morning, School Afternoon)
We couldn’t plan this
We need to still move stuff. Tentative Meal, Sandwiches and Chips

Sunday Morning
Waffles and Syrup

This week’s dessert
Chocolate Cherry Bread
