what is acceptable timetable for writing thank you cards?
Just wondering how soon after your wedding you wrote out and sent your thank you cards.
I ordered blank cards with our first names to match our invitation design, and have already sent out a few thank you's using these for guests who were invited to the wedding, couldn't make it, but sent us a gift before the wedding with their RSVP 'no.' But we also figured we'd have some type of thank you card done by our photographer to send out when when we got back the wallet-size photos.
DH has said to me about 3 times already in the past 18 days since our wedding... 'you know, we should send out thank you's already.' I told him we haven't even gotten proofs back from the photographer yet, let alone chosen a thank you card design. I reminded him that for the past 3 weddings we've been to, we received their thank you's months to practically a year later.
Of course I'm not waiting that long, but I am wondering what is an appropriate time limit to wait, given that photographer proof turnover time can take a while.
TIA for your help!

well, 'they' say that you have up to a year to send out a thank you - which IMO a year is way too late
we sent them out about 3-3 1/2 months after the wedding which i think is the standard time people usually send out their thank yous....my friend got married at the end of aug & i just got her TY 2 days ago

I've received thank you's anywhere from 3 months to over a year after attending a wedding. (the one over a year had major issues w/ her photographer!). We're still working on ours and we're almost at 7 months. My goal was to get them out before Thanksgiving but I think I'll only be able to send out the ones for my side by then. The rest will DEF go out before Christmas!

I just got my proof 2 weeks ago and I am hoping to get them out by December 1st.
I'm a sticker for thank you cards and like to get them out ASAP. My shower thank you's (over 50 of them) all went out the week after my shower.

etiquette is to have them sent two weeks after you return from your honeymoon. I was bad and it was like almost 4 weeks after by the time ours went out! Some people say a year is okay, but I think its irrelevant to get one after a few months after the event.
