For me it was hiring a DOC and bringing flip flops for the reception.

Re: WHAT IS THE ONE THING.....
Just making the wedding US, doing things our way with tons of detail, I think every person who attended our wedding made comments about so many things. We keep getting more and more calls and visits every day just saying that we did not miss a beat or thing at our wedding and it was by far the best wedding they have ever attended, kind of being at a broadway play, which makes us feel great!! Plus we picked all of our own music and the guest danced all night long....

Re: WHAT IS THE ONE THING.....
It's hard to narrow it down to one thing - I was so happy with 99.9% of our wedding decisions. One thing I am glad I insisted on was doing a donation to an animal shelter instead of a tangible favor, and using pictures of the shelter dogs as our table numbers. It was something that meant a lot to me, and made me happy to see pics of my four-legged 'friends' on the tables. Oh, and I'm glad I made DH learn how to dance for our first dance. And I'm glad we let our DJ have a lot of freedom with music and weren't super-picky regarding 'do not play' lists.
So as you can see, it's hard to narrow it down!

That DH & I saw each other before the Ceremony. That was one of our Decisions that many family memebers were not Happy with, So I am Very Happy that we stood up

Re: WHAT IS THE ONE THING.....
I Have More.....
That we had the ceremony at the RH I did not have a church. Not many family members agreed with that either, but
My Biggest Thing was having everyone see us get Married. I did not want some people to show up at the church & the rest at the reception. When the Most Important Part is the Ceremony to begin with.

Re: WHAT IS THE ONE THING.....
that the morning of the wedding I let everything go--- and lived the day as if i wsa a guest-- not the host. DH and I both planned hard and stressed even more all the way up to the big day-- but refused to let it be a day of lists and itineraries
ALSO...
I am so glad we never left each others side- we experienced the day together as husband and wife from whne we were pronounced until we went to sleep... you wouldnt believe how many noticed we were inseperable, having a blast and living it together

Re: WHAT IS THE ONE THING.....
I'm really happy I DIDN'T bother with a lot of stuff. The weeks before the wedding were so crazy with last-minute details and trying to get everything finished with my job, I let a bunch of things go. Never did order a bunch more things to decorate the hall--and I'm glad I didn't! I had thought to get ivy for the staircase: they had it! Stuff to decorate the pergola: they had it! Flowers or garlands for the ceremony: wouldn't have worked with the chairs there, and no one would have noticed. Programs--would have been nice, but no one noticed, same thing for menus. Bathroom baskets, last-minute favors...I'm glad I saved my sanity and didn't bother. It's really hard to plan a full, formal wedding in six months, and you get so crazed with all the things you think you 'must' have. I'm really glad I decided to resist the hype and forget about them.
I'm really glad we went with a Jewish ceremony instead of getting a judge or someone like that. It was a beautiful ceremony, and very meaningful, even if it's not my religion. And I loved the chuppah so much. Wouldn't have had one if it wasn't a Jewish ceremony. I think it gave the final touch to our ceremony.
Finally--I'm glad I included pretty much our entire families in the ceremony. My stepson was the best man. All our nieces and nephews had a role. Our siblings held up the chuppah. My parents walked me down the aisle, and my mom did readings. Even though we fight, I love my family--both sides, now--and forming my new family with my husband wouldn't have been the same if they didn't help me.
