What is this I hear about a snowstorm?

Everyone was freaking out at work. I saw 1-3 inches and rain. What did I miss?

I just answered my own question-we have a winter weather advisory. Ever think about when you were a kid, you wanted so much snow for a snow day, but now that you are an adult and work, it is just a big PITA, because work isn't cancelled and you still have to commute in a mess with a bunch of imbeciles who will tailgate you in the snow (that happened to me last year during an ice storm...idiot...actually spun out)

I know, right?! When I was in school, and it was snowing, I'd wake up at 6am just to see if the alarm went off which signaled a snow day. We could be in the middle of a blizzard and we'd still have to come to work. My parents house is at the bottom of a steep hill so there were numerous times where my car literally couldn't go up the hill. Too bad I live around no hills now!

I have a hill now, but I have a Pathfinder. Plus, they make you use a vacation day. Sorry, not vacation! I will make it and get sent home unless death is a certain possibility. I call the court hot line a gazillion times to see if court is closed. It never is of course (my office is in the courthouse, so they can't do the, well you can work in the office cr@p)

That stinks. At least you have the SUV though. How far is your commute?

ohh..that suucks

I'm very lucky that my commute is only about 20 min. However, I'm not really happy with what I'm doing, so I'd take a longer commute to really like my job.

Yeah, court is hardly ever closed. Especially when I have to travel 40 minutes to family court for support, and find it to be postponed because a dead beat dad didn't show. So back into the snow I go I hate federaland state buildings sometimes

yeah, this sux

Needless to say, this is the downside of living in PJ village..... the entire town is in a valley surrounded by very high hills. there literally is NO flat route home

I still pray for snow - joys of being a teacher. Up here in Albany there is suppose to be a bit more. I am hoping for an early dismissal tomorrow

Which court/county? I am Central Islip...they also don't know how to shovel/plow. Luckily, my judge said I can wear my Uggs since we have no trials

How much snow do you need for them to consider any cancellations?

We were closed last Monday and this Monday due to excessive icing. It really just depends on road conditions. I teach in a rural school so it takes them a while to clear those roads. The roads by me are usually cleaned right away.

For you teachers, I will keep my fingers crossed that we get enough to close school and court!

Or at least enough to close school and not enough for me to drive petrified of a cold and snowy death, or more realistically sitting in 10 hours of traffic
