What is your favorite Supermarket (and if possible why?)

We will have so many supermarkets around us I was curious if I should try another than what I am used to!

I've been totally addicted to Stop & Shop until recently ... we get frozen cut string beans for our dogs and for about the last month they never have them!!!

DH made me go check Waldbaum's (I will normally ONLY shop at S&S because I have a card & am into the discounts) and they had what we buy only cheaper!!!

I am a creature of habit though (more like obessive) so we'll see if I can actually make the change!!!

When I want the best selection and quality items - def. Stop n Shop.

When I am looking to save $$ - Pathmark all the way!!!

Fairway Market in PLainview is my favourite...they have a lot of obscure & gormet items that are not overpriced. Also, if they have something in the circular, it is almost always in stock.

The also have a huge organic section!

I go to Super Stop and Shop as well. Ours is less then 5 minutes away. I feel we get great buys there. Also compared to the other supermarkets in the area, Stop & Shop is the cleanest.

Stop & Shop for us too. It's convenient and close by, and they have pretty good sales. I find that they are just about the same prices as any other supermarket.

Mine is Waldbaums because that or Key Food is my only choice. I go to Waldbaums for the basics but for DH I buy meat at the meat store, fruits/veggies at the veggie store, etc

Stop & Shop is the closest one to me, so I shop there most often. But Waldbaum's is my favorite -- I love their sales and their 'no frills' brand.

stop and shop for most things. Its cleaner and the aisles are nice and wide, and have the self serve pay lanes! love em!

waldbaums for my eight o'clock coffee on sale, and some other sale things... but ours is dingy and ALWAYS has long lines. Usually only 2 cashiers open at a time.

I normally shop at Stop&Shop, but three times I have gotten bad chicken from there. I still like them better than the Waldbaums by me. I just don't buy my meat there anymore. I find if I go to the S&S across from Target in Setauket everything is nicer there. I am so frustrated with supermarkets lately. Also we have been going to Trader Joes a lot. We love Trader Joes!!!

i don't get meat from ANY supermarket. I usually get it from Eastern Meat Market in Franklin Square or other butcher markets (D'allesandros sp?)

I wish we had a butcher around here. When we were in Ireland every town had its own butcher. I wish it were still like that.

It depends on where I'm living...

Now, in North Jersey, I live right next to a brand new Shop Rite, and it's pretty nice.

The Stop and Shop near me now is NASTY!

but, when I was growing up in Central New Jersey, the Shop Rite was nasty and A&P was the way to go...

I have to say Pathmark...
we're really saving money and there is a site that correlates coupons from the newspaper with sales at Pathmark.

Two weeks ago I saved over thirty six dollars!!!!!!

We get meat and bulk items from Costco, natural foods from Trader Joes....
Farm stands of course for veggies in the summer!

here's that site: they just ask that you donate at least one item to charity each week..many of which they calculate for free with coupons.
