Re: What is your favorite Supermarket (and if possible why?)
Waldbaum'sWe go online and check out the specials of the week and go. I have a card to both Stop & Shop & Walbaum's but I like the selection better at Walbaum's.
I live like 3 blocks from Stop & Shop but I drive into Westbury for Walbaum's.
The lines in Stop & Shop are crazy. The folks are rude and it's just annoying BEING in there.
I used to do this job where we'd hire people to go into supermarkets and shop and report their findings. Some of the key items we asked were 'Do they greet you' 'Is the floor clean' 'Is it well lit' 'Is the produce area fresh' 'Are the aisles clean, clear and wide enough' 'Are there ever more than 5 people in a lane'.
Honestly... I choose Walbaum's over Stop & Shop. Then again ANYTHING is better than when I lived in Queens and had to shop in those tiny little trade fairs!!!

I replied 'other' because down here in Northern VA we have a supermarket called Wegmans. It's actually an upstate New York based supermarket and it opened its first location in the south right by my house. It is The BOMB!!!! I love this supermarket. It has the best produce, the best seafood (and the seafood counter stays open late) it sells really nice cookware and bakeware (unlike the crap they sell in regular supermarkets) it has a huuuuuuge wine section and also an organic section. I could go on and on about this place. And it even LOOKS nice on the inside - it kind of looks like you're shopping in a marketplace.

Fairway Market in PLainview is my favourite...they have a lot of obscure & gormet items that are not overpriced. Also, if they have something in the circular, it is almost always in stock.
The also have a huge organic section!
i agree i love that place its the best and johns farms in plainview for veggies
