I know in NY most people just give you cash/checks, but did you get anything out of the ordinary that shocked you in a good/bad way?
For our wedding my grandma gave us an old fruit bowl which she received as a wedding gift 75 years ago! Its purple glass (my fav color) and in excellent condition and it means more to me than anything! I have seen it in her house for years and was trying to find a nice way to bring up to my aunts that I wanted it ha ha. When I opened it I was shocked and so happy! I just hope I can keep it beautiful and chip free for the next 75 years and pass it on.

we got some gift cards too! One of my guests gave us in one envelope gc to AMEX and Applebees and gave us another envelope of AMEX and Applebees too. Guess they all didnt fit in one envelope!

I got the Waterford Lismore candlesticks that I was absolutely in love with but wouldn't put on the registry because they were so expensive I didn't expect anyone to buy them DH laughed so hard when he saw my eyes light up as I opened the box. His boss gave them to us w/o knowing I wanted them.
We also got an backpack filled w/ stuff from the Adirondacks like fresh maple syrup and other camping type stuff. That was pretty original.

I mostly got cash and checks. but, one of my little brother's friend's (we take him skiing with us he's 17) gave us cash along with a silly framed picture of my husband wearing some weird hat and eating a sandwich. It was pretty funny. We also received a couple of our Lenox place settings from a family member that felt bad that she couldn't afford to give more. It was nice.

Mostly checks but we did received dinnerware sets, bedsheets/linens, express/coffee maker, applicances, jewelry from my parents, a cool Sony digital picture frame that holds up to over 100 images DH's family pass on jewelry that were family heirlooms from the grandma. So that was really sentimental for me!

we got an amazing gift- its our names written in the sand with our wedding date and the wave is just crashing on the wording-
I Thought it was really personal... and thoughtful...
better than the only person who showed up with no gift!

We received all monetary gifts. But with one of our guests checks they gave us our first Christmas personalized ornament from waterford. Its so beautiful.

I got all cash gifts except for one cousin who gave me a gorgeous trio set of antique photo frames. She gives everyone gifts because she likes for people to remember that she gave them something meaningful. Best part is one of the frames, she put a photo of my Grandparents when they were on their honeymoon in the 1930's. I honestly think it's one of my fave gifts received.

I got all cash gifts excpet for one of DH friend who gave us a gift card to Macys. one of my BM's gave me cash and a beautiful picture frame.

We got all money cash/checks for the wedding. BIL got us a video camera for when we 'have babies' as he put it. I thought that was cute.

We got this beautiful wedding invitation shadowbox from a friend. I couldn't help but cry. It was so thoughtful and the detailing was so intricate.

It was actually from someone who couldnt come to the wedding, she hand sewed an exact replica of our invitation on a huge knitting board thingy (you know when someone sews a pic, lots of grandma's do it) but she TOTALLY made a replica of our invitation. SO INTRICATE and SOOOOO GORGEOUS! She did the flourishes and the wording, EVERYTHING. ITS SICKKKK. She even put it in a frame its like 11x13, its hanging up on my wall! =) Def the most memorable gift Ive ever gotten.

I think my most unique gift was a plant, because it has healing powers. It was cute. It was from my BM who gave me a pan to make her famous banana bread or meatloaf for my shower and gave me a pot and a pie baker for the wedding, but then gave me the plant to heal my burns (lol). And its a cactus because she knows how I am with plants and keeping them alive. It was very cute.
I also got a beautiful Tiffany cake plate with matching dishes.
Most everything else was from our registry or was $$$.
