Some of my teacher friends and I want to go into the city one day next week but don't know what we should do. What's some fun inexpensive ideas?

That is fun AND inexpensive. Good recommendation lol Plus you may even make money doing that haha
I love going to the museums b/c you don't have to pay their price, you just make a 'donation' lol I feel bad, but that's what the tourists are for!
You can see what the Met has going on, sometimes they have some cool exhibits. I don't know if they have the fashion exhibit anymore, but you can see.

oh mannnn I was going to recommend Around the Clock diner in the EV, but I just saw that they closed :( I am so upset.
I think if you go into the village for a little 'window shopping' spree, you could work up an appetite and go check out a Grey's papaya ??? It's cheap and yummy. There is a great diner that I used to go to down on 8th and Broadway, I forget the name :( But it's right on the corner just about. Right across from The Gap. I know this probably doesn't help sorry.

They extended restaurant week until Feb. 27th- they have lunches at great restaurants for $24.07- here is the website restaurant week- nyc

i am not sure how much it costs but maybe the sex and the city tour bus. I think you also stop places to eat so that is 2 in 1 lol.

for my friends Bacg party this weekend we started our night at this place called Beauty Bar and for 10 bucks you get a martini and a mani (well any drink you want lol but thats what the special is called) it was fun !

go to canal street and walk around china town and little italy (cheap and entertaining), if really nice out walk around central park and then maybe go for tea at Alice's Tea Cup.
