What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
We had 2 people not show because the guy had a fight with his girlfriend. He didn't even call us and apologize. He called someone else to tell them to tell us.

Same thing here! DH's cousin said his wife wasn't feeling well, but we know it was either b/c they got in a fight, or b/c she was mad that we didn't invite her son!
Just want to add that my SIL did not show up to my shower b/c she got into a fight with my BIL. She didn't even call me or my sister who threw the shower for me. She called my other BIL to tell him, but what good was that!?!

I think the worst is no excuse, no call, no card, nothing.

Re: What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
We had DH's cousin e-mail us 2 days before the wedding with 'sorry we will not be able to make it' nothing else. But the worst is DH's cousin NOT calling, writing, sending a card NOTHING and she stuck her own brother with his 10 month old (they all live out of state) since she was bringing someone to watch all the kids, the brother had to bring his child to the wedding (which I totally understood). Oh and a friend of mine for 6 years just didn't show up either. Worst is that because of DH's cousins I had to add a table, plus centerpiece to accomdate everyone and that was a huge waste of money.

One of Dons cousins said that there babysitter cancelled last minute even though the real reason was they had a fight with the people they were sitting with a week before the wedding.

sorta off the topic, but related..I had a friend not tell me she wasn't coming until 5 days before, and I had to track her down...she lives in Chicago, so I figured unless she already got her flight, she wasn't coming.......afterwards, no call, no e-mail, no card....I even e-mailed her...no response...now her wedding is in Florida in April and hubby doesn't want to go...b/c of how rude she was....she is very flaky, but I think I deserved a call!....now do I go to hers?

We had one couple leave the wedding (before dinner I may add) b/c they complained the music was too loud.
I can't believe some people?

Re: What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
One guy came, didn't bring his wive - said she was sick and never gave a gift or card or anything. So not only did I pay for the no-show but he came and ate and didn't even give or send a card. My DH asked him after and he said he would send a gift before our 1st anniversary. Been married 2 1/2 years - no gift.
A funny no-show story - A couple drove all the way from VA for our wedding and had the date wrong. They thought the wedding was on Sat but it was on Sun. They felt really bad and we knew the day before that they wouldn't make it. I felt bad too but it was really funny!!!

Amy ... don't go! I wouldn't!!!!
Only one no show ... actually, a wife of a guest. She was sick but he came and gave us a gift like she was there. It was a friend of Rob's from work! Oh well!!!
But my best friend who was in the wedding and came ... stopped talking to me after the wedding! I don't understand people at all!!!!!

Re: What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
lets see I had a few no shows...
Was in the hospital and had knee surgery?? ok, so you don't schedule these things in advance! Same couple didn't show for the e-party. Oh they got into a car accident the night before -- I did believe that until they didn't show up to the wedding too.
Another was 2 days before - oh I have to do something with my parents...yeah ok.
Day before - possibly true - we both have the flu.
Edited to add one more: DH aunt: says she isn't coming, then tells us 3 days before she's going to come. Now i need to re-arrange tables, make a seating card, get her a corsage. Day of the wedding, -- no show! No reason. Just didn't show! She's strange anyway.

Re: What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
We had someone not show up because they got lost. What - you can't ask someone for directions? I think she had a fight with her husband and just didn't come, or couldn't find someone to watch the kids. Her husband was in our bridal party - and he had the card and everything.
One aunt got very sick a few days before, so that was ok. And one cousin didn't show because their daughter was in the hospital - but her husband came.
Then one couple didn't come because it was too hot. She was also pregnant - but you know what, she knew how pregnant she was going to be when the invites went out - they could have said no. They did give us a card though.

We got two adult no-shows. Two days before my cousin called to say she waasn't bringing a date and we didn't realize until after our wedding whil elooking at our proffis that teh husbnad of one of my long distances cousins didn't show. We never found out why. They gave us a card from both of them, but still - 2 adult dinners were paid for and never eaten!!

Re: What was the worst excuse someone had for not showing up at the wedding?
I just had to reply to this post,
FI and I are so bad. We booked a vacation to FL not realizing the time we were going on vacation was the weekend of her wedding. We were really excited about the price and seeing our friends and land.
When she called us 2 weeks before the RSVP date asking why we havent responded and asking if we were coming brian told her we werent going to be able to make it because things were really tight (which they were, i lost my job) and we wouldnt be able to go.
I know we're bad friends

I don't think there are any excuses that you can come up with outside of an emergency that you could ever give to me that would be good enough. If you changed your mind between the time that you got our invite and the time you chose not to attend you should have called us.
38 people did not go to my GF's wedding, are they all going to say they all had an emergency, I don't think so...no gift, no card, no call...the nerve.
7 people did not attend, one guy said he was waiting on hubby to call him back with directions, one lady said she had to be rushed to the emergency room, and one girl said her brother's house burnt down I am so happy I did not notice these people missing, b/c it might have made me sad. I did not notice until the next day when we were unpacking all the place cards that were not picked up

My aunt had a couple that didn't come because their DOG was sick!?!
WHAT! I have a dog which is like my child but I don't think that's a reason not to go to someones wedding!
