i just heard mine on the radio.... ours was 'This Year's Love' by David Gray. Not the most appropriate when you listen to the words, but I LOVE this song and it was one of the few we agreed on.
DH doesn't remember but I heard it at Connelly's like 4+ years ago while we were eating there about a few months into our relationship and obsessed over it for weeks.
Originally I wanted 'Thank You' by Dido b/c i was a HUGE fan, and he took me to her concert like 6 months into dating, but he didn't really go for it.

Re: what was your wedding song and why'd you pick it?
We kept bouncing around with what our song would be. We didn't really have a song that we considered ours. But nothing seemed right. Then DH called me and started singing 'oooh baby i love your way' and we were like 'OMG thats it!' LOL. it worked perfectly for us.

ugggh we still don't agree on our wedding song- almost 1 year later!!
it was 'I could not ask for more' Edwin McCain. DH wanted 'Truly Madly Deeply' by Savage Garden, which is a nice song, but I didn't want to tell him that it reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, so there was no way I was going to use that. I had a few picked out, made him listen to them over & over again, and he told me 'I don't know which one, pick whatever one you want'...........well fast forward to our first dance and instead of having our sweet little moment, he's saying 'what the hell song is this?' I didn't want this song, and he kept saying 'I wanted that one by what's his name' and I'm like who???? I had no clue which one he meant......now I look back at the pics of our first dance and laugh b/c I really know what he was saying in my ear
ETA- the other songs I considered were I'll Be by Edwin McCain and When you Love Someone- by Bryan Adams
That is Freakin Hilarious Helen!!!
We decided last minute -- we used Van Morrison/Into the Mystic. Both loved the song and the sentiment, and DH could use his 'high school sway' type dance and not look too funny.
We had 3 dance lessons before the big day; just as our dance starts he gives me a really sweet hug (or so I thought) and whispers softly: 'Pet, I forgot every single step we practiced.' The first dance pics look all sweet and romantic but hes DYYYYING of embarassment and I'm HYSTERICAL over his plight. On the video, though, he actually looked like he was dancing GREAT!!!!

that's awesome Colette!! makes me feel better that we didn't do lessons, Mike probably would've forgot his moves too.......didn't matter since we were distracted w/ our song conversation:
here's me answering him when he's like 'who is this????'
here's him laughing at me when I'm like 'just shut the %$*@# up and dance!!!!!! not like we can change the song now!!
damn I can't wait to see our raw footage on the video- I hope we can hear what we're saying to each other!!

LMAO Helen! Those were the two Pete wanted but he thought 'they're too old.' I said so what (I wanetd BREATHE by faith hill because i felt it really summed up the day but again he felt it was too old) He was insistent so we chose GOD BLESS THE BROKEN ROAD because it was a newer song (for him) and we both felt the words realyl summed up all our individual relarionship trials leading up to one another.

'Without You' by Motley Crue because I've loved Motley Crue since I was like 10 and Slayer or Cradle of Filth would've been too heavy for our guests' delicate ears.

Ours was the old school version of 'You're All I Need to Get By' by Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye mixed into the newer Hip hop version with Mary J. Blige & Method Man. DH and I have always recited the hip hop one to each other so once I suggested mixing it with the original to make it a bit more 'wedding appropriate' he was sold. Plus we're not big slow dancers and wanted something faster.
At the wedding when it first came on we got the 'awww's from the crowd, but once that beat hit for the hip hop part and our bp joined in the place got crazy
NICE!!!! I love that you mixed it in with the Mary J/Method Man version. Thats one of my all time favorite rap songs.
Thank you!! My sister's friend that DJs in the city mixed it for us. We like to throw it in the CD player now and then and get down

I LOVE hearing these stories bc every time I would go to a wedding I would think 'wow, what a romantic first dance - I can't wait for mine'
So of course, our first dance we are whispering in each other's ear but it was like 'wow, when is this song over,' 'can you stop turning so much, you are making me dizzy,' 'I hate that everyone is looking at us'
there was my big romantic moment

Our song was Me and Bobby McGee since that is my dh's name.
The lyrics really describe married life so well
'And I's feeling nearly as faded as my jeans'

Re: what was your wedding song and why'd you pick it?
DH and I met pretty much because of our love of Bon Jovi and the Yankees. So naturally, our wedding song had to be a Bon Jovi song- 'Thank You For Loving Me.' I remember hearing it before I met DH and I thought- what a perfect wedding song - but I'll NEVER find a guy that would tolerate a Bon Jovi song for a first dance! Literally months later I met DH!
He also put those words in a Valentine's Day card once.

ours was From this Moment-Shania Twain. we picked this song, b/c it fit us perfectly, also because it has been a part of our relationship, ever since it came out in '98.

At Last _ Etta James,
We were both soo picky, we loved everything about it. her voice, the words, shoot it was even the right length for us. We'd been together for 8 years so pretty much everyone who knew us was.. at last already. I guess everyone else knew before us that we'd end up getting married (shoot even our engagement was long..lol) So AT LAST it was. (I wanted Sade at first but he shot it down, picky pain)

we had Amazed by Lonestar, followed by Annie's song cause DH loves that one.
we heard that on his PC (amazed, that is) and just liked the words and nothing else was good for both of us.

I know what you mean!! me & Mike were doing the two step in a circle until the bridal party joined us.......originally I wanted to do the whole first song w/ just us two, my DOC was like 'that's going to be the longest 3 1/2 minutes of your life' so I listened to her, gratefully!! I was so relieved to have the BP join us!!!

Blessed the Broken Road by the Rascall Flats. I love the song and the lyrics especially. DH liked it too so we both decided on it. DH managed to learn the words by the wedding and we were kind of singing it to each other-very sweet:)
