Aww memories are in your head and heart--the dress is just a thing. It's horrible, but if it can't be replaced, that's OK--you have DH, your pics, your video, everything you need to remember the day!

Re: what would you do?
If it's completely destroyed maybe you can take patches of the fabric and put it into a quilt or something. Or you can make a handkerchief and pass it on to your children (if you want to have any that is).

i would also report them to the bbb...and as was mentioned, if you can salvage anything, try to get a few pieces of the fabric to make a quilt, hankie, etc for future generations in your family - i love that idea!

I am so sorry. I can just imagine how devastate you must be! I would definitely make them pay for it! I love the idea of doing something with the fabric.

This is what I wuold suggest. I have considering doing this myself but I cant bring myself to cut my dress up..but since you dont have an alternative, you can get some other uses out of it.

That's a great idea.
I would also take them to small claims court if they're not offering any type of compensation.

Re: what would you do?
i know how you feel - the cleaners destroyed the deerskins on my gown - they arent repairable been thinking about court - but i think it has to be whatever you really feel in your heart - you had your gown for the day it was meant for - i know loosing it is really difficult but would you have actually ever worn it again? i know that isnt the point but it is all i have been able to come up with as a rationalization myself . good luck however you decide to go and let us know how it turns out
