what would you do if ...

Original post by AwaitingAugust

ok, TOTALLY hypothetically, if you got pregnant today, what would you do?

I asked DH this question and he said he would NOT be happy and he'd want my to have an abortion so we could wait until we're ready.

I wouldn't really be 100% happy either, but I'd want to keep it anyhow.

When we found out we wre not TTC and had plans to go away in July to Texas and to Disney for our one year. But we were over the hills thrilled and just had to go with it! Right now we are loving our little bump! Looks like for our one year I'll be coming home from the hospital with a newborn!

We're totally not TTC... and decided not to have kids at all... so if we did get preggers.. I think I'd start out upset/shocked...

But DH and I have discussed the 'what if' at length - and both believe that a baby is a gift, whether it's a surprise or planned... so we would make it work.

I'd say DUHHHHH!!!! I'm almost 5 months!!!

But realistically speaking.. DH and I were trying on our honeymoon.. but we NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS thought it would happen SO fast!!!! lol And although I can't say I was 1000% ready... I am now.. BRING THIS BABY ON!!!!

We are not ttc but we both would be 100% happy and figure out what we would do.

I totally agree with ang - as a married couple the idea of having an abortion seems ridiculous to me too. sorry.

A few years ago, I thought I was pregnant. My DH and I were no where near getting married nor engaged. Although we weren't ready, neither financially or mentally, we would have made it work.

We still aren't financially ready for our son to arrive but he's due Saturday . I don't think there's ever a right time to have a baby but then again, there's no wrong time either. I think of it like this great game of making it work. We are and I know it's going to be difficult yet the best thing we have ever done.

We'd be happy. Though we aren't actively TTC yet, we'd get excited. If it were one year ago and we got pregnant, that's a different story, and being married doesn't have anything to do with it. We are in a much different place now, due to certain circumstances that occured.

with that being said, i don't think having an abortion is rediculous AT ALL. What I think is rediculous, is bringing an innocent child into this world without the means to take care of it and give it 100%. Just because your married what does that change? Most of us were living with our SO prior to the wedding anyway, so I just don't see what else has changed since then. Except for now society sees us as an'official married couple'.

if a friend or family member of mine wanted to terminate a pregnancy even if they were married and didn't have a care in the world, i would support them 100%

like i said... its a personal opinion of my own situation... as someone that has every intention of having kids... having abortion is ridiculous TO ME

just off the top of my head... as a married couple Shaun and I have way more vested in the relationship than we did prior to marriage... marriage is a contract and must be legally broken to be fully free from that person... there is no such contract in dating...

I just have to say that ITA with you. Even if marriage doesn't 'feel' different, it is different. I agree with what you said-that it's a contract-plus DH & I believe that we took a specific set of vows (Church) and agreed to honor them by getting married.

I'm not sure what your age is, but my mom had my brother when she was 44! It was tough, but its been done.

Honestly, I would probably cry. DH and I are no where near ready to have a baby. We would just make it work.

I do also believe that having an abortion when being married is completely ridiculous.

well considering we are ttc i dont think my opinion is what youre looking for...

but as a married couple the idea of having an abortion seems borderline ridiculous to me...

This.. well I wouldn't use the word ridiculous - but if you're planning on having kids, and you're already married I don't think having an abortion is okay.

If you're married and never plan to have kids and you get pregnant, than yeah I can see why you would.

I can think of many different reasons why people who were planning on having children would have an abortion...but I really don't want to weigh in here because most people's opinions are to the contrary and I don't want to argue about it.
