OK, so since we got married we have been trying really hard to have dinner together... since we moved into our house it has been terrible, we havent been cooking and been eating more take out then i care to say... im wondering if anyone else ever finds themselves at a loss of ideas or recipes... so what if we start a Whats for dinner thread? and we post what we are eating for dinner, and if we ever need an idea we can just search this thread??? What do you girls think?? If you think it's stupid it wont hurt my feelings I promise!

Re: What's for Dinner Thread??
I really like this idea. Though if I end up eating dinner alone (which happens most nights), I end up eating a sandwich and salad, so I won't have the greatest contributions.

I love to cook, but we don't get home form work untill about 8pm, so it is tough. Now that it is BBQ Season we do a lot of grilling!

Re: What's for Dinner Thread??
When I cook I tend to use recipes out of Cooking Light magazine.
Last night DH made grilled salmon over yellow rice.
Friday night DH grilled T-bone steaks and vegetables (red & green peppers, onions).
We received a grill for our wedding that you place over the burners - we use it all the time, great for apartment dwellers!

DH is very strict during the week! We mostly eat grilled chicken with veggies!
Tonight I am making a fresh turkey breast with string beans & carrots!!!
I heard great things about Rachel Ray's cookbooks!

I love this idea!! DH doesn't get home usually til 7 or 8 so its difficult to have dinner together sometimes.
but tonight we are having turkey burgers on whole wheat buns and grilled veggies (green&yellow squash and protabello mushrooms) drizzled with a balsamic reduction (this is super yummy, easy to make and can be used as a dressing w/out any oil)
last night was chicken cutlets at my parents house

Nicole - no one will think bad of you b/c you haven't cooked before. Like you, I never had a reason to cook for myself b/c I lived at home, and mom always took care of the 'big stuff' while I sat back and watched and helped.
While I have the 'ability' to cook, I seriously do not enjoy it like some people do.
I cook a full meal every other night, and I'm sure DH is getting sick of my 'options' of Cheeseburgers, Chicken Cutletts, Pasta w/Meat, and Stirfry!

Good luck tonight Nic!!! If you want to make it even easier, bread the chicken cutlets & place them in the oven at 350! Turn them once (15 minutes) & they are done within 30!!!

Re: What's for Dinner Thread??
I'm not a great cook, but I'm the best baker ever. I have been learning to cook my husbands favorite Spanish dishes, Carne Guisada (beef stew) w/ white rice and Habichuelas(beans), which I make for him once or twice a week. The other days I mix up the following: pan seared chicken breasts, pork chops or flank steak and have rice or pasta and vegetables.

We get home really late usually so weeknight dinners are easy to dos...tonight it's porkchops on the grill, left over corn on the cob (from Sunday), sauteed spinach, and a salad.

I just put some BV in a small sauce pan added a small amount of honey (about 1 tsp.) brought it to a boil slowly then simmered for a few minutes.....sooo yummy
