Re: What's for dinner tonight?
It's Tuesday Night Dinner Club. We all go out for dinner Tuesday nights and take turns picking out where to go.

Re: What's for dinner tonight?
well, last night I cooked a giant indian meal. I made saag paneer, a chicken curry, and a fried pepper, paneer, raisin, and cashew dish (soooo yummy!). We eat it with some kulcha from the indian grocery store. This is obviously enough food for several days, so we're eating leftovers for a while

I won't lie... it's rather time consuming to do a proper indian dinner with 3+ entrees. And it takes patience. They should perk on the stove for a couple hours before they really reach their optimum state.
It's not difficult, but there is a definite learning curve, and it creates a lot of dishes. Every dish starts the same... organize all spices, prep all ingredients... then heat oil in a pan, add spices for about 30s, and then add the first large ingredients (usually onion, garlic, ginger).... then follow the recipe... I taught myself over the last couple years, and now, I swear you'd think I'm an indian mom...
when you're done, you get DH to clean up the kitchen, and you're good for lunch and dinner for 3 days... just get an indian cookbook recommended on amazon, and give it a try!
oh, one more thing: there's a HUGE bennie to cooking it yourself... you can use a 1/4 cup of oil per dish or less, while the restaurants tend to use MUCH more.... so it ends up being much healthier....

Re: What's for dinner tonight?
the hubby made breakfast for dinner! that's his favorite meal so he could eat it any time of day!! we had eggs, cheese and a hash brown on an english muffin...yummy!! when he's cooking he doesn't go for complicated recipes! if it keeps me out of the kitchen for one night, then I'm game!

Thanks for the tips! I had a feeling the resturants were using about three tons of oil but I liked to pretend it was kinda healthy I'll have to buy a book and give it a try
